These two guys came into work yesterday after the lunch rush was over. They were around my age. One of them had an ID badge hanging around his neck with his name (first and last) in big letters. I was standing behind Marisa who was cashiering. When it was his turn to order Marisa asked him for his name and he said "Jason". I stepped around Marisa and said excitedly "Jason?! Jason Flannery?! Wow it's really you!" The guy just looked at me, trying to figure out who I was. I put my hand out to shake and said, "Man I can't believe it, Jason Flannery. How have you been? (as I point to myself) Monique, we went to high school together." The guy shook my hand and kinda smiled but still had a clueless look on his face stuttering "I...I..." Finally I said giggling, "Nah man, you have a name badge on. I'm just kidding, I don't really know you." His friend started cracking up and at length he began to laugh too. Marisa thought I really knew him the way I was saying it. lol I've always wanted to do that. You rarely see a name badge with a first and last name on it and this is prolly why. lol Later I told Marisa I should have said, "Don't you remember, we hooked up at John's party a couple years ago. Man, you were great! Why didn't you ever call me?" lol But that wouldn't have been appropriate since I was working. However if I had just been a customer...
Last night was a good time. Ed and I went to pick up Rodney from work. He works at a Hip Hop clothing store at the ghetto mall. I haven't seen him in over a year. I was at my heaviest/swollenest (damn prednisone!) the last time I saw him. It was really great hanging with him. He talks so much (just like me!) and cracks me up. He grabbed me and gave me a big hug and kiss on the cheek when I saw him. He's all scruffy looking, growing out his beard and his `fro was all mis-shapen (his mom said he looked like he had an egg head lol). He said he was going to go for the clean shaven look again. Right now he looks like those middle-eastern Muslim guys that try to get you to buy oils and perfumes at the mall. When he's clean shaven (face and head) he looks like Turk from Scrubs:
After we picked him up we headed to his house so he could get some cash. While we were there his mom came home and we talked with her for an hour. She's awesome, so funny and talkative, just like Rodney. Yes, he's 30 and still lives at home. His mom had a liver transplant in 2002 and so he stayed at home while she was sick and never left. lol Rodney is an odd guy. He doesn't drive, doesn't drink or smoke, rides flatland BMX, and listens to death metal. He's just peculiar in a likable way. At our wedding he stole the reception by dancing with all the ladies. He was the only guy dancing in a huge group of women and he didn't know any of them. To this day the women at my mom's work still ask "how's your friend Rodney doing?" lol
We ended up eating at Goodtime Charlies. Ed and I got sirloins and Rodney had a bacon cheese burger. Yum. There was a waitress there who kept looking at me. She was cute with a dark bob cut that was longer in the front and short in the back. At first I thought maybe she recognized me from somewhere (Sam's or Sea World -who knows?). So of course I kept looking at her to see if I knew her. And then it became "I'm looking at you to see if you're looking at me" kinda thing. Weird. At the end of the evening I got up to bring our credit card receipt to the cashier. The girl walked past me as I was at the bar and bumped into me, not in a hard, rude way, but more like brushed up against me. There was 4ft of space to walk by. Plenty of room. And then as I was walking to the restroom I thought, "maybe she was not looking at me because she thought she recognized me, but maybe she was checking me out!" lol Yeah, that's the way my mind works.
After dinner we headed to Tacoland to watch some bands play. Rodney had never been there. He loved it. It's just a little hole in the wall that prolly holds about 100 people (although the fire marshall would prolly say it only holds 50). So many great bands play there though. I've seen REO Speedealer there. That was a GREAT show. It's so small it always looks packed and you're up close and personal with the stage (it's only a foot high) and the ceiling is super low. Last night we saw Scary Manilow, they were great (I thought), The Oklahomos, and More Fire. It was a good time. It was this guy Roland's birthday so there was cake and "special" brownies. I had a piece of cake. Rodney wanted a brownie until I told him what they were. lol Roland's nickname is Night Rocker so all evening the bands were wishing him happy birthday and referring to him as "Night Cocker" and "Rump Rocker" and "Night Ranger" lol There were plenty of people there, Chris, Suzy Bravo, Andy, this chick Jackie Black that I went to college with, and Audrey showed up (not my sister). She came up and gave me a big hug, which surprised me because I'd only met her on Suzanne's birthday earlier in the week. She was so excited to see me and asked me how I was doing and said that she and her daughter Alexa were going to go skating every Tuesday now. lol. She just seemed really excited. I introduced her to Ed and she grabbed him and gave him a big hug. lol I wonder what she was on. She was going to give Rodney a hug too when I introduced them but he was on the far side of the picnic table.
We almost ended up closing the bar down but my eye was hurting from the smoke and my ears were really hurting from the noise and I was getting really tired (and didn't want to get whiny tired) so we cut out 5 minutes early.
Today I'm suppose to hang with my sister. My mom and I are meeting her and Amber at our favorite place Chuck E. Cheese's for pizza and games. Then mom is taking Amber for the weekend and Audrey and I are going to go shopping or see a movie and then possibly go out somewhere tonight. We'll see. I hope everyone is having a fun weekend!
Oh yeah, and from now on I am to be known as The Fabulous Monique or at least that is how Suzanne has been introducing me to everyone. :D
