I just got back from seeing my surgeon, Dr. Hollsten. The ointment was irritating my skin and the sutures were seeping and it was yellow so I was afraid it was infected. He took the stitches out of the lid and said that everything looked great on the inside and that it moved good and was healing nicely. He told me to stop using the ointment and gave me a prescription for a drop instead. He also put in a clear shield (like a huge hard contact lens). The lid is still red and irritated and a bit swollen and doesn't open as far as normal right now, so I've decided to wear an eye patch unless I'm outside and can wear sunglasses. My regular glasses don't hide the eye and I don't want to wear sunglasses inside.
I don't see Dr. Hollsten again for 6 weeks and cannot get a prosthesis made until after that. Ugh. That's too long.
