Old folks. Life is shorter than we think.
I had a hard time being close to my father's parents. They are (mainly my grandmother) are small minded about many things, and me being very independent and outspoken, we didn't get along. As I got older and into my adulthood I decided I would make an effort to get to know them, especially my grandfather because he seemed like such an interesting person but because of my grandmother I kept my distance. I decided I would act like a grown up and when they came to visit I talked to him and played cards and just spent time with him. I'm glad I did, because he was diagnosed with stomach cancer and died that November. I didn't get to know him as well as I wanted but I'm glad I did take the time. Now I really need to suck it up and make the effort with my grandmother. She's the only grandparent I have left.
