Hello all
I had a good birthday. Didn't go and have a big hoopla or anything like that. Had talked about meeting up with Juan and Bita and maybe Christina but never did. Edward and I went to IHOP for lunch but ate breakfast. Isn't that what you are suppose to do there? Thought about
navarreankh while I was eating my pancakes. Afterward Ed and I ran some errands. Got my Christmas cards mailed out. Woo Hoo. Now I just need to buy presents for my family and Edward.
Bought a coat with a "furry" collar and cuffs and a nice black sheer dressy shirt to wear when I hostess. I've was in the kitchen training to cook all week so I didn't get to dress "nice". I also bought the Best of Blondie and the Best of David Bowie and the new Pretty Girls Make Graves CDs.
Edward said he was ready for a beer so we headed over to Papas to see if anyone was hanging out. Recognized a couple of people but no one we hang out with. It was only 3:30. We stayed for a couple of hours playing darts, just the two of us. That was a lot of fun. It was really hard for me at first. I used to be an awesome dart player. I even played on a league. But since I've been sick I can't throw for crap. My meds make me shake, my vision/depth perception is off, and I seriously have no muscle control. The darts crash sideways into the board if they reach at all, if not I end up throwing them straight into the ground. It's so pathetic. Several times I missed the board completely and hit the wall. You have to realize how hard it is for me not to be good at something (like darts or pool). I'm soo competitive (with myself mainly) and to have been great and now I can't even reach the board is so frustrating. The problem was I was trying to throw hard and fast like I use to. I never really had to "aim" before, because it came natural. Ed was soo cool about it. He didn't make fun of me, he laughed but with me. He let me re-throw the darts that missed or didn't register. I had to concentrate soo hard to throw hard enough and accurate enough just to hit the board. After a few games though it was a little easier. I managed to at least hit the board and not the wall. I even won 4 games, 2 in a row even (out of like 15 games and being able to re-throw). Get this, (we were playing 301) I busted on a 101 out by hitting a 120! D'Oh! I also hit a 117. Neither of these were actually on purpose I was just trying to hit the board and not the wall. I figure if I keep playing I'll be able to be as good as I was before. Keep practicing. It's funny, when Ed and I first met I would go and play darts or pool while he went to ride his bike. Edward never really played before. It wasn't really his thing. Then I played for Papa's on the league. Then I got sick and couldn't play anymore and he took my spot on the team. Now he plays and I am starting again. This will be something fun for us to do together. :)
Hot Damn!
After that Ed and I went to his parent's house and had chili. Mmmmm chili in cold weather rules! They gave me a a bottle of Hot Damn! for my birthday. That also rules in cold weather. His mom also gave us a 3ft tall fake Christmas tree that she had decorated because since we rearranged our furniture there's no space for our huge tree. Plus I really don't feel like dragging all the boxes down out of the closet. At least now it feels a little Christmasy around our house.
Presents!
We went home to let the dogs out and Ed gave me my presents. I got a water foot massager (definitely will be using that after work), Pirates of the Caribbean and get this
Naverrankh, Return of the Pink Panther. Rock! I asked Edward if I had talked about that with him because I was just googling Cato earlier this week. He said no, that he just happened to find it and wanted to get it for me. He is so awesome. It's like he read my mind. I also got a package in the mail from
ginagwen. She's fantastic. She sent me some jewelry that she made, two pairs of really pretty earrings and the most awesome pink and black "caterpillar" bracelet. Thank you so much!
We had half planed to meet a couple of friends but both of us were pretty exhausted. I worked hard all week in the kitchen at work, plus I rode my bike a lot this week, and I haven't slept much this week. So we ended up watching Pirates and falling asleep on the couch.
Today my mom and sister are coming over and we are going to see Rapunzel at the
Alamo Street Theatre. We may stop by the Landing for a drink and an appetizer afterward. I also have to pick up my schedule. Then we are suppose to meet my dad, Matthew, Cassidy and Ed somewhere for dinner. I just hope the weather stays warm. It's gorgeous outside right now. It's cool but the sun is shining brilliantly.
