Summary: 600 words. Set a few weeks after the June 9-10, 2011 wackiness in the Dominic Republic. There was a dare in her eyes. And he'd never been able to resist a dare.

"Kiss me." There was a dare in her eyes. And he'd never been able to resist a dare. Looking back, he'd probably admit he couldn't resist *her*. But in the moment, he could barely breathe. Barely move. "Kiss me, Ethan," she said again, closing the space between them… until he could feel the heat of her through her pretty party dress and practically taste the sips of champagne she'd stolen when Alexis wasn't looking.

He lowered his head, like each painstaking inch was a step to the gallows. She waited, her chin tilted up, her lashes fluttering closed… already weighed down by too much mascara. Her mouth was unpainted, her bright lipstick left behind on cocktail napkins. She was a beautiful girl who didn't need to wear makeup. A *girl*, barely grown… and when he should've met her lips, should've answered her dare, it was *that* thought that detoured him to the soft skin of her cheek.

He could feel her exhalation of disappointment… it echoed his of relief. But then he found himself hanging there, swinging on the rope, leaning against her and breathing in the flowery smell of her perfume. Their foreheads touched, and his shoulder grazed hers. It was like being burned alive… slowly. *Oh*, Ethan thought, oh, bloody hell. He hadn't dodged the Reaper after all. This was *worse*. She must've felt the change in him; he could see it in her eyes: the victory, the little spark of pleasure. She turned just slightly, and planted her lips full on his.

It wasn't a smooth kiss. It wasn't sexy. It wasn't all the things Kristina tried so hard to be. It was innocent and giving and… and… Ethan groaned, bringing up his hands to shove at her. But his fingers hovered just above her shoulders, clenching in frustration. "Kristina, I don't want to hurt you." He could hear the growl in his voice, the rocks weighing the words down. "I don't want to push you away."

"Then don't," she said, simply, before brushing her mouth across his. Again, she killed him with the chaste, awkward, honesty of her kiss. He couldn't help but open to her this time… just a little… and it was like the first bite of a sweet summer peach. Forbidden fruit. He didn't remember much from the Bible --his only religion was the con-- but he remembered they never said it was an apple. As he took control, gently urged her to accept his tongue and was answered with a blissful moan, he thought knowledge and damnation must taste exactly like Kristina Davis.

He slid his arms around her, completing the circuit, and pulled her flush against him, until she was dangling off the ground. She instinctively wrapped her legs around his hips, the skirt of her dress bunching up between them. Her slim bare thigh rubbing against his clothed one was easily the most erotic thing he'd experienced in ages. She'd gone and done it: She'd seduced him. No, this was *worse*. He'd *let* her.

He pulled back, just enough to stare down at her face. Her mouth was parted, missing his already, and her eyes were wide open. Dark and gorgeous and seeing straight into him. "Ethan?" she whispered, the only hint of doubt, of fear, right there in her voice. "Ethan, what is it?"

If there was one thing he never wanted to inspire in Kristina, it was fear. So he did the only thing he could. He gave in… gave all. He tucked a stray strand of soft brown hair behind her ear and dared her: "Kiss me."
