Why isn't
purnima_fic *active*? I cannot figure out why the community is basically dead after a few posts. You'd think creating a comm for South Asian character fic would result in people posting South Asian character fic. Am I missing something? Should I be posting over there every day, trying to encourage discussion?
I gave up on Life Unexpected fifteen minutes into the second episode, because a group of drunk assholes picking up a teenager for school in a CAB was just moronic. Then, even MORE moronic was the revelation that Lux had a group of fellow precocious ragamuffin teens that had fueled her desire for emancipation. Dear God, spare me.
Haley's dinner party with Quinn, Taylor, Clay, Nathan and David was utterly hysterical. Though, and I don't know if it's just me, but there's a harshness in Bethany that's really starting to come through. I noticed it during the concert episode when she butchered "We Belong." She's looking kind of rough, and there's a sharper edge to her than there used to be. And it was really blatant in comparison to Quinn and the actress who plays her. Haley's supposed to be the youngest and she seemed like the oldest.
However, Clay, Nathan and David all reacting to the James' sisters shenanigans was awesome. I loved that they just stood around drinking beers and watching them rassle in the pool.
I don't really care about Lauren/Mouth/Millie, and hope that Millie's afterschool special drug storyline is over now.
And thank the LORD that the Julian/Brooke angst appears to be over. It was such a manufactured conflict...to use Julian's need to help people as a reason for Brooke to be SO hard on him. I mean, she's insecure, but not THAT insecure. I loved how the room just lit up when he came in to ask her to work on his movie. Sophia and Austin could not quit smiling (and if/when they breakup, I really hope the OTH Gods don't tank B/J the way Brucas got tanked). I really hope we'll see them continue to rebuild their relationship and that Alex will find someone else to be with, someone else who respects her and doesn't diminish her recovery.
1. Is it bad that learning Ashleigh and Fisher broke up just made me go, "Yay! Now she can be with Beaver!"?
2. Hi, Heath!
3. Apparently QAF has conditioned me to where seeing two gay guys dance together at a heterosexual function makes me brace for one of them to get whacked with a baseball bat. Thankfully, this is GREEK and Grant and Calvin were fine. Also, Calvin has cute boxers.
4. Evan and Rebecca are my new root-for couple. I just love how prickly she is and how he's so sardonic and laid back. They've both grown as characters and it's the perfect time for them to make a real connection. Also, Jake McDorman looks thin. I think he dropped a ton of weight during the filming hiatus. He looks good, but it's a little disconcerting. I kind of want to feed him.
5. However, further to item 4, HOW much did I love that Evan was about to kiss Becks but couldn't once he saw Casey and Cap? It was the perfect OT3 moment. Because however you want to read it, right now he has no place in their lives, and he misses them. *sob*
6. Cappie and Casey are the heart of the show, but I'm glad we're going to see a little conflict crop up in regards to their post-college plans.
I know the show is in danger of cancellation, and part of me is actually...relieved. Because how far can they GO with this cast? They can't be in school indefinitely, and I don't think I'd watch a series JUST about the underclassmen (i.e. Rusty, Dale, Calvin and Rebecca). They've already moved it to 10 to highlight Make It Or Break It at 9, which, to me, is a kiss of death. So part of me just wants to see the spring arc just wrap up beautifully for all the characters and leave it at that.
