"The 21st century is where it all changes."

Got sloshed, drunk IM-ed, drunk dialed, and attempted to watch Supernatural. Aside from noticing that Sam is hot, I pretty much didn't pay attention. So, yeah, flipping over to Lost wasn't even an option.

I also watched Torchwood 1.5, "Adam," last night and 1.6, "Reset," this morning.

"Adam," was the standard bizarro AU episode, and aside from reaffirming for me that Rhys and Ianto are awesome and Gwen sucks, I didn't particularly care for the episode. Even *with* all the exposition about Jack's childhood. Something about the episode felt overtly wangsty to me...and, seriously, if Torchwood is SO badass, how could some being from a wormhole even infiltrate them like that? So stupid!

I did think geeky Owen was absolutely adorable, and he and Tosh basically switching roles was intriguing. I liked Ianto being the first one to catch on. Too bad Jack's "detox" session with the team was the hokiest thing ever. All that touchy-feely "remember who you are" bullshit...topped off with Gwen remembering she loves Rhys but not like she loves Jack? Oh my God. What IS she, the Martha Jones of Torchwood? No, I think she officially beats out Martha in the pathetic unrequited love department...especially she hasn't saved the world. And, okay, I had a severely immature moment of "So, there!" when Jack was so intensely invested in Ianto not being a killer...and then kissed him on the forehead during detox. Heh.

"Reset," was much more interesting. I'm one of those people who loved Rose and likes Martha just fine... not falling into the "batshit Rosefen" category but also not thinking Martha is So Amazingly Awesome And Underappreciated. So, having her at Torchwood was great, but also sort of like..."Okay, we get it, Martha Saved The World." I couldn't help but feel a little of what the team was feeling, like Jack loved someone else best, like they weren't as good as Miss Martha Jones who had some secret shared history with him. It definitely tapped into those "Jack left us" insecurities...especially since we saw a Jack who was very much Doctor Who Jack.

On the other hand, ZOMG!, I didn't care, because they flirted and talked about the Doctor and UNIT and just...eeeeee. Plus, was it just me or did Martha confirm for Owen that she's dating hottie Tom Milligan? And where in the world did she get hepatitis? Of course, it did rankle a bit that if Martha is so freakin' awesome, then why do the boys have to go rescue her? But I think Super Martha Syndrome would have annoyed me more.

Another plus of Martha being there? She totally pwns Gwen. Heh. Gwen did nearly nothing in the episode, Jack had a new-old BFF, it was all kinds of awesome and a nice break. Loved Ianto and Martha's scene about the red cap, too. "We...dabble." Unfortunately, I couldn't quite catch what words Ianto used to *describe* said dabbling, but Gareth's expression was priceless.

Okay, I saved the important stuff for last. Prepare for Caps Lock abuse.

OWEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

ASDFGHJK!ALLAD.

Now, I'm not naive enough to think he's going to stay dead, because no one ever does on this, but JESUS CHRIST IN A SIDECAR. I hate when shows in general do this to me! "Let's give the dark character a redemption arc, give him/her a second chance, and then do something horrible to them!" No. No. No. Stop that. I should've known he was doomed from the minute he agreed to go on the date with Tosh...which was such a terribly cute scene that I almost couldn't take it.

I know I'm one of five Owen fans on the planet, but I can't help it. Watching him get shot was brutal. I really love how he's grown and come along and that a lot of the self-destructive darkness that drove him last season had evaporated. Though, geez, him getting shot and Jack cradling him was such a karmic payback for him shooting Jack. Yowza.

And I have a feeling that the poor guy's not done paying...
