Catch Me - 1 (HoMin, SeKai)

‘Code red! Code red! Inmate 180288 has escaped! Inmate 180288 has escaped!’ The loud voice yelled over the intercom. ‘Bring him back dead or alive!’.

The said inmate ran for his life away from the shouts and gunfire of the guards. He tried wiping the blood off his face with his handcuffed hands, but it only made a bigger mess. The Inmate ran until he reached a dead end that housed an escape hatch. He looked around with panicked eyes when multiple guards approached him with guns drawn.

“No where to run anymore!” One of the masked guards smirked devilishly, as he cocked his gun. “I can’t believe this is the feared inmate everybody talks about,” he snorted.

Inmate 180288 stared down the barrel of the gun, and closed his eyes. He tried to resist but to no avail. Humans were really complicated and he knew that even if he could be captured alive, they wouldn’t do it. After all, humans always destroy what they fear or can’t fully comprehend.

He opened his eyes and smirked. It had to be done, there was no way back now. He had to get out of that place to find him. He needed to find him at all cost.

The guards froze in their spot in horror and fear. The guy that had previously laughed at the inmate fell to the floor, blood splashing everywhere and his head rolled over to them.

“O-open fire now!” One of them yelled, and all guards started to empty their semi-automatic guns on the man.

The handcuffs of the inmate broke suddenly and he smiled. He was about to face the guards when he felt the steel doors of the escape hatch being open, and himself falling backwards off of a cliff and into the water.

A lone figure stood by a darken window and smiled to himself. ‘Behave and live your life, Changmin'.

Yunho woke up panting heavily. He had just dreamt about that kid again. It had been almost a year since he had this recurrent dream.

It had always puzzled him. He could clearly see the little boy’s face in his mind…even now if he closed his eyes. The boy was a tall pale boy, with big brown eyes and big ear. Yunho liked the way his eyes became mismatched whenever he laughed. Still, his parents had told him that they never knew of that boy. Not even Donghae, who had been Yunho’s best friend all his life.

When he was a child, he used his imagination a lot. Actually, he still used it, and wasn’t a shamed of it. It was nothing strange to him the thought of that boy being an imaginary friend. After all…it all happened the day he had the accident.

He turned to look at the bedside table and saw it was 3:00 am.

‘Great!' He thought sarcastically.

He had promised to go fishing with Donghae around 5:00am and he was everything but sleepy at the moment.

He decided to try to get back to sleep, so he stayed there, laying on his bed while watching at the white ceiling.

Donghae smiled to himself as he casted his fishing line back into the clear blue ocean. It was days like this that he enjoyed being outside. The sun was shining, the fish was biting, and….something was floating in the water.

“What the hell?!” He shouted as the said object came closer into view. “Yunho! Yunho! Come up here now!” Donghae yelled to his best friend who was below deck napping. “Yunho!

With lighting speed, the older man came upstairs rubbing his eyes and frowning a bit.

“What is it?!” He complained, he was finally getting some hours of sleep and Donghae was ruining it surely for something stupid.

Donghae pointed towards the water, and went to grab a pair of binoculars. “It’s a man!” He yelled once he used the binoculars.

Without thinking, Yunho jumped in, and dived to save the man. He grabbed the body and swam back to the boat, praying to God that the man was still alive.

Donghae helped him get the man onboard, and once Yunho was there as well, both turned to look at each other and then at the man lying on the deck.

“Is he dead? He doesn’t look swollen,” Donghae asked, as he saw Yunho kneel down and put his fingers on the boy’s neck. “And…he has red scales…” he added, pointing at the boy’s collarbones.

“He has pulse!” Yunho exclaimed not caring about what his friend has said, “it’s weak, but it’s there! What do I do?!” he turned to see his friend.

Neither of them knew what to do in cases like this and for obvious reasons calling an ambulance wasn’t their best option at the moment.

“I don’t know! Administer CPR or something!” Donghae yelled moving his arms in the air. “Hurry!”

Yunho breathed into the man immediately and pumped on his chest and continued the procedure until the man stirred and coughed up water.

“Are you ok?” Yunho asked the mysterious man with concern in his eyes.

This person reminded him of someone, but he couldn’t remember whom. The man looked at Yunho and backed away from him quickly.

Yunho noticed the scared expression in his eyes. “I’m not going to hurt you. You were floating in the sea and we helped you,” he added, motioning himself and Donghae with his hands.

The young man looked at Yunho and blinked a few times. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He furrowed his eyebrows and frowned as he tried it again.

Nothing.

“It’s ok if you can’t talk at the moment,” Yunho smiled a bit. “Donghae, let’s get back to the island,” he commanded.

His friend frowned. “We don’t even know who is he,” he said as he looked down at their new companion on board. “or what those are,” he mumbled as his eyes landed on the red scales on the young man’s collarbones.  “W-we should get him some clothes.”

Yunho looked at the young man and blushed hard. “U-um, yeah,” he stumbled over his words. “We should do that, definitely,” he added quickly. He hadn’t notice until now that he man was gorgeous….and fully naked.

Yunho stood up and went for a blanket. When he returned, he wrapped it around the naked man’s body. He smiled and sighed. The man looked really lost and vulnerable, but he was sure once they got to solid land everything was going to be better for the boy. Maybe his family was already looking for him. There was no way no one wouldn’t miss an angelical face like that.

He was about to stand up again, when the boy grabbed his wrist quickly.

“A-ax…M-Max…” the young man managed to say in merely a whisper.

“Max?” Yunho asked and then smiled a bright smile. “Well, Max. Nice to meet you, I’m Yunho.”

****

“What was that?” Donghae asked as he sat down beside Yunho. They were now in Yunho’s house and the man they had just found was on the bed fast asleep. “Are you sure we shouldn’t go to the police or the hospital?”

The young man they had found had been fast asleep by the time they landed and arrived at Yunho’s house. Yunho immediately noticed the marks on his wrists as he put him to rest on his bed. His first thought was calling the police, but somehow he couldn’t manage to do that. After that, he and Donghae discovered that the sleeping man had several bruises all over his body. But first, he wanted the young man to wake up, and maybe consult with him about what to do.

Donghae approached the sleeping man and dared to touch his collarbones. He had been dying to know what exactly these things were. They felt exactly like fish scales.

“What if he has some strange disease?” Donghae questioned. “Those feel like a combination of fish scales and shark’s skin, but not sharp at all.”

Yunho just shook his head. “Leave him alone. We’ll ask him when he wakes up, and if he can talk again. For now, let him rest.”

Donghae noticed that the boy was sweating slightly, so he brushed the hair off of the man’s forehead.

The man flinched at the touch and woke up instantly, sitting up incredibly fast and grabbing Donghae’s wrists tightly.

Both looked at each other and Donghae could see something glowing slightly golden in those eyes. Those eyes held no kindness; they were cold and looked confused. He started to feel as if something was getting into his body. It was like a heavy pressure in his chest and head, and it was becoming really difficult to breath.

“It’s ok, it’s ok, Max. We’re here to help you, remember?” Yunho said gently as he approached the bed. He sat on it, and grabbed the man’s hand, making him let go of his friend.

The young man turned to look at Yunho and Donghae could swear that the golden glow faded quickly. He felt his body go back to normal again. He could breathe and there was no more pressure suffocating him.

“What happened to you, Max? Do you want us to contact the police or take you to the hospital?” Yunho asked with a warm smile.

Max shook his head franticly. He bit his lips and opened his mouth. “N-No, please!” He said quietly, his voice was raspy and his throat hurt like hell.

“It’s ok. We won’t take you anywhere you don’t want to,” Donghae said uneasy.

There was something about this man that he didn’t like. It was like if he wasn’t human. He had thought he was going to die a few minutes ago, and he was slightly scared of Max. What he felt inside his body, he knew Max was responsible for.

Max smiled to both of them. “Thanks.” he whispered and looked at Donghae. “Sorry.” The older man nodded and looked away quickly.

“What about your family or friends? Someone must be looking for you out there!” Yunho asked hastily.

The urge to help the man was almost unbearable. There must be something he could do!

Max shook his head and look at him in confusion. “I- can’t. I don’t…know.”

Yunho sighed. “You can’t remember?” He asked with concern.

Max blinked a few times and shook his head again.

So the guy they just found seemed to have amnesia, and he didn’t want to go to neither the police nor the hospital.

“Don’t worry, Max. You can stay in my house as long as you want or need to,” Yunho said as he grabbed the man’s hands in his and squeezed them.

Max genuinely smiled at Yunho, and felt something foreign inside him.

But, what was it?
