This 'verse gave me one of my favorite boyKing setups, because he's on his own and has to stay that way for the most part, and Sam without Dean, well...he makes questionable choices sometimes ; )

The characters in this particular 'verse would be very unsettled by Sam's appearance, so their unease had to be palpable, glad to hear it worked!

Dean is in a particularly bad spot in Burdens because he's painfully aware that this strange new world is a result of his wish and he has no idea what to do. And Sam's not being particularly helpful either! But of course, the brothers always come back to each other in the end and I'm sure they will in this world too.
