I'm pretty derned sure Death picks up Dean's distress call (though I could dig Tessa too), but I really haven't a decent guess how they get Sam up and moving around as quickly as they do. I'm super stoked for next season, though. Looks like there's gonna be heavy action and lotsa pissed off angels, one feisty prophet, a deliciously former King of Hell, tasty Dean angst and ABADDON, baby! \0/! Can't really get a bead on what's going on with Sam yet; they're playing that one reeeeeally close to the vest. HMMM.

Looks like Sam and Dean MIGHT be in Purgatory at one point, which could mean Sam's soul could get that far but not to Heaven because, yeah, Metatron. And Dean has to go convince him to return to his body, which is comatose in the hospital. Just musing...

I'm starting to wonder if the oddly-tinted space the boys are in is limbo and Sam's stuck there fighting his own reaper off.
Also, Bobby knows a few things about that space, so maybe he shows up there somehow?

Ooh, yeah, there ya go. If Heaven and Hell are all effed-with, where do human souls go?? (I've heard rumblings that Bobby might even be Sam's reaper...)

EDIT: just saw Cordelia's post and your reply. I like the guide idea!

Yeah I totally dig the idea that heaven and hell are both unable to accept new souls - heaven's empty and Hell's closed for renovations while they change management ; )

I'm going with Death, but I'm a bit partial...

It does seem very likely it's Death!

I'm leaning toward Death, or something else. I want it to be demon blood, however. So much of Sam is affected not only by the blood, but also how Dean views him because of the blood. Dean accepting th DB as a good and necessary thing could go a long way to help Sam come to terms with the DB that is inside him.

Re: demon-blood. Couldn't agree with you more!

It's probably Death, isn't it? And Dean's tears, for sure :)

Is Bobby the Reaper who comes for Sam?

It does look like the boys are on another planet some point. Could easily be limbo-and Bobby could certainly be involved there. Even if he isn't the reaper, he could show up as a guide (like Rufus did for him).
