Well, it finally happened: after over 3 years of taking riding lessons, today I went riding on my own. It was not the ideal weather for riding, it's freaking cold today, but a little cold is nothing compared to some good horsey time

Yeah, it was a pretty smooth ride, once I finally managed to tack him up. But I took my time, since I didn't have to rush to start my lesson and my boy was really patient. Most of all, it was great because it was a good chance to learn to relax and to practice my riding without the pressure of having to do this exact exercise at this precise time. I did have a plan of what I intended to do, but there was no one to tell me off if I failed (unless you count my annoying inner voice) and still things went pretty much according to plan. And my mom stuck around freezing her ass off, because she was afraid I'd fall and there was no one to take me to the hospital LOL
Mom's confident enough to pet Z and give him carrots now, so I might get her to overcome her fear of horses one of these days.
I think the norm here is to have cement barns, though some of them have wooden stall doors. Cement is used in pretty much every building around here. I guess it is pretty good not having to worry about wood chewing. And speaking of barns, I'm so glad I finally got Z to walk slowly into his tall, he was crowding me a bit and was on a very short lead, but he didn't storm in like ZOMG THE EVIL STALL IS GOING TO EAT ME! I would have made an epic celebration if 2 seconds later he wasn't ignoring because there was FOOD in the stall.
And yes, he is very white, but just you wait until spring comes and that blanket comes off. Suffice to say, he likes to roll on top of manure >_>;
