An aerial shot of my house shows an utterly trashed back yard. Trees are not just uprooted, but entirely missing. There is a large tree lying in my street.
But my roof is still there, and nothing landed on it, and the water is staying on the street.
FEMA gave me money. I've heard from nearly everyone I can think of. And they're reopening my zip code - for now anyway - on Sept. 23. I assume they're doing it on a strictly get in, get out basis.
Things are looking up.
