A Post of Good Things

I have fan! As in a device that moves air around, not an admirer. It's huge. I've been sleeping awfully these past few nights, but my old fan was too dangerous to use. I'm not kidding. If you switched it on or off or changed settings after the lights were out, you could see the spark jumping around inside.

Call of Cthulhu game tomorrow. One of the things I like about this setting is that it's set in our world, so I can google up pictures of things. So when the party says, "Let's go to the library." I can show them the actual building they'll be visiting. Although it means I seem to have done a bit more research than the writers of the module.

I made guacamole and we ate it with our burritos for dinner and IT WAS REALLY GOOD hooray for the avocado season. Man I'm full though.

I got a big review on my fic today, setting out what they weren't liking about it so far, and they'd basically nailed what was going on, so I had to reply and tell them it would get worse before it got better (they seemed reassured once I said it was intentional.) But I actually wrote the next chapter this afternoon because I got fired up about it.

And then I played some Skyrim, and I gave Qa'Dojo (a follower from the Interesting NPCs mod) a staff of zombies. And some vampires attacked Morthal one night so Qa'Dojo used his staff...to resurrect a chicken. I'm considering the possibility that he was being deeply sarcastic. Being a vampire is pretty neat. The whole daylight thing is a bit annoying, but it's nice not to have to worry about food or cold.

...You know, there's not a lot of of overlap between how I play the game now and how the game designers imagined it. I love mods.

I'm reading The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twan Eng right now, and I'm utterly besotted with it. I can't even articulate why exactly, but every time I pick it up I regret putting it down not because I'm on the edge of my seat, but I'm just sad to leave it. I'll review the whole thing when I'm done.
