The Kindness of Strangers

Today I took Miles to the park in the morning. Miles was in his Moby wrap, and my phone, keys, and iPod were in my pockets. We swang on the swings until Miles was asleep and it was time to punch down the bread dough. Then I went home and baked bread and made lunch to take to Jon. I took it to him, and when he met me in the office of the school, he said, "You lost your cell phone - want to know how I know?"

Apparently he got three calls during school telling him so.

A woman named Tammy found it on the ground and called "Mom & Dad" in my contact list, who then called Jon and Jon's parents. Jon's parents called Jon and gave Tammy Jon's number. She called too.

So I got to Jon, used his phone to arrange a phone handoff with Tammy, and now I have my phone back. Wasn't it nice of Tammy not to just steal my phone? Thanks Tammy. And lots of parents. And Jon. I would have been really sad to have lost my brand new phone.
