Well, turns out it's not the gall bladder. A HIDA scan, a CT scan, and an echocardiogram later, we find out that he's got a pericardial effusion, which just means he's got some extra fluid around his heart. It's pressing on his lower organs a bit, but not on his heart, so we've come home until Tuesday. We'll have another echocardiogram then to see where to go from there. Whee. I'm learning so many nice medical words lately. And I know the Providence Portland Medical Center like the back of my hand. I can get to diagnostic imagine from any angle in that hospital! I also learned that pregnant ladies aren't invited into the Nuclear Medicine area of the hospital. Something about babies and radiation ...
