Fred's home, so I've been offline for the past couple of days, spending quality time with my hairball. Life is so much different when he's around - I keep the house cleaner because it matters, and when I wake up in the middle of the night, it's much easier to fall asleep when I can hear him snoring beside me in bed. He's very comforting.
We saw "The Ground Truth" last night, which is a documentary about the way veterans of the Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq conflicts were changed by the experience. One of the ex-soldiers (Camilo Mejia) said something about different kinds of courage. He was urging people to follow their consciences, even if that meant deserting the military. They had another of the ex-soldiers (Charlie Anderson) on hand in the theatre to introduce the film and answer questions afterwards. It was a very interesting movie, and the questions and answers afterwards were just as good (though we do have some loonies here in Bloomington that don't seem to know when they've said enough). We were hoping to meet up with athanata and mischiefmydear at the theatre, but never ran into them - sorry!
Today is rainy and cold. I got caught in a pretty big downpour on my way back from meeting Fred for lunch, so am now wrapped in my cozy robe, chatting with Les and Berry, and thinking of making a pot of tea.
