Title: -goodbye to you-
Author:
Rating: PG-13 -ish for foul words
Pairing: still Jinru and still implied Akame
Warning: it's a little fluffy and quite short
Summary: Maru keeps his distance from Jin as he was trying to move-on. Jin gets pissed off cause he doesn't understand. But when he does, he gets shocked beyond his wits.

Notes: this is the continuation of -invicible- it wasn't planned that way so i'm sorry. the first part may be a bit confusing but i promise it would all make sense in the next chapter. I"m really sorry for making Maru cry again. I totlaly love the guy and I don't know why I kept on making him cry... Once of these days, I'll make one that won't involve him crying except maybe for more ... *wink*

The room was lonely.

No, it wasn't quiet, in fact, it was the complete opposite. Maru had decided to pair with Koki and relieve the TaNaka comedic duo. Laughter filled the room - some genuine, some overly exerted, still some, bitter.

The warm conversation and constant bickering that once made everything livelier and real, however, has ceased.

'I love you too Kazuya.'

"What are we?" Maru asked Jin one night. He came over at Jin's place to hang-out - watch movies and stuff. However, the events from last night were still bothering him. Deep down, he knew the answer to the question, but a part of him told him otherwise. 'A confirmation would make moving-on easier,' he thought.

Jin, who was sitting on the floor with his back to Maru, didn't stir. He was overly engrossed in the film to bother looking up.

"Jin." The beat boxer, who was sitting on the sofa, softly called as he reached a hand to tap the younger's shoulder. When he finally got his attention, he asked again. "What are we?"

"Band mates." The answer was blurted out without much thinking, probably due to the amount of alcohol the speaker already consumed. Jin somehow knew that it wasn't the answer the other was looking for. "I mean..." before he could explain, though, the other had already replied.

"I see...Let's be better band mates in the future then." Maru chuckled bitterly. He already knew it was coming. But he was still hoping that it wasn't so.

He was wishing that something might have already grown from their three months of whatever they had; he wasn't even sure if they had anything in the first place. Sure Jin would occasionally ask him out to dinner and would sometimes drag him to his apartment, but they didn't have a commitment. Jin called it 'safe ground'; Maru knew it wasn't safe.

Jin tasted the guilt in his mouth. He felt the bitterness in that chuckle. He wanted to reassure the older man but decided against it.

Images from the foreign film, he took no interest in now, illuminated the room. Blue light casted lonely shadows on the wall. The light flickered on Maru's face, pronouncing the sadness and anxiety. If Jin had turned around, he would have seen the anguish those light brown eyes had. If he did, he would have realized it all at once.

When the film ended, Maru flashed him a sweet smile. The gesture calmed his soul. He thought everything would be alright. If he had managed to see beyond the smile, he would have seen what it really meant.

He has drifted apart.

It had been two weeks since Jin and Maru talked in private. Even during their breaks, Maru tried to avoid talking to him. He wasn't mean. He would still greet and nod when they happen to meet at the corridor; he still followed the talk parts in the script. But the smiles and teasing has stopped; their trips and dates were cancelled; even the daily calls and mails were never sent. Maru was treating him like just another band mate.

Jin wasn't mad at Maru, the older was like that sometimes. He had gotten used to the other's mood swings. But the sudden emptiness in those once-cheery eyes despite the laughter was eating him up. The way the other seemed rather life-less when alone and was losing weight wasn't helping either. He would have wanted to talk to him and ask him what's wrong but Maru was apt on getting away from him.

Finally, he couldn't stand it anymore. The game Maru has been playing has been up for too long; it was time to end this.

When their rehearsal finally ended that day, Jin literally dragged Maru into their walk-in closet and shut the door before any of their band mates could snatch him away for a random night-out. He shoved the taller man with ease; pushing him on the corner without care. He was too pissed to give a damn.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing." Maru replied as he tried to get past Jin, desperate to get out. He never liked closed places and being in the closet with Jin was making him sweat with anxiousness.

Before the beat boxer could get out however, Jin had totally lost it and punched as hard as he could, missing Maru's face only by inches. Fear crept into the taller's veins, the younger was dead serious. There was something in Jin's eye he couldn't place.

"What happened?" His voice was hollow and deep; his gaze making the hairs on Maru's neck stand on end.

"I'm tired of this." His voice was barely audible.

"What the hell are you talking about!" The younger can't keep the rage from showing in his voice.

"You're still in love with Kame."

Jin was taken aback. "Wh...what are you talking about?" He asked dumbfounded.

Yuichi just smiled bitterly, "You're still in love with him. I can't be the third wheel forever Jin. I love you, I really do, but I can't wait forever for you to feel the same way. I can't do this anymore... I.." Maru wanted to say it all but the tears got in the way. He couldn't bear to talk anymore.

Before Jin could do anything, he dashed out of the room; out of the building and straight to his apartment. When the lock of his apartment door finally clicked, he let his feet gave way as he slid on the cold pavement under his feet. He sat with his back leaning on the door and his hands hugging his propped up knees.

Tears started welling up in his eyes again. He wanted to tell Jin how he badly wants to be by his side until the younger learns to love him. He wanted the other to know how he loved to stare at those playful eyes and get lost in them. He wanted to scream at the other for being so damn unfair. Yuichi wanted everything and nothing at the same time and it was killing him alive; he knew Jin couldn't give him his all.

Little droplets started to make their way into his cheeks and later landed on his knees. Grief has filled his whole being. He cried the whole night until sleep took pity on him and placed him under her spell. Tearstains tainted his soft and pained face that rested on his knees. Even slumber, however, did not stop stray tears from travelling their course. Even in his dreams he knew...

he had to let go.
