I just had a pretty awful day. I woke up from a bad dream, had an emotionally traumatic conversation with my family, and then went snowboarding, where on the first run I got cut off by a beginner, we crashed, I landed hard on my tailbone and head. The rest of the day was worse -- I fell over and over, and hard. I don't know what the deal was. I guess it was the first fall, after which my muscles were shaking. I fell twice on the last run of the day (and we went in early), first hard on my face on the flats, then hard on my back and head on some ice. I went to the ski patrol office on the way to the bus stop; fortunately I don't have a concussion. And of course, the physical pain plus the emotional turmoil meant a whole lot of tears, which was embarrassing. It was awful. I might go skiing tomorrow, because it's less dangerous (for me, at least) and all the muscles I use for snowboarding hurt like crazy (many reasons: being out of shape, being at high altitude, and beating the crap out of my body by tumbling down the mountain). I have some positive things that I listed to write down about yesterday, when I didn't have internet access, but I'm too tired to write about it now. I promise I will tell you all about the positive aspects of my vacation later.
Hope everyone's break is going well. Aside from today, mine is going okay. Utah is beautiful, and the snow is infinitely better than on the East Coast, aside from that one last run today, because it was 1 of only 2 ways to get to the lodge and it was more difficult than labeled, so it got a lot of traffic and a lot of people scraping down it because they didn't know what they were doing.
