Wait. I have one last thing to say about this examination. I wish to impart my wisdom gleaned from the marvelous world of intermediate macroeconomics. The most important thing that I learned during this first half of the semester in preparation for this midterm is this: Sometimes you can pay people in hats.
That's right, folks! Your laborers don't need to bother with your measly nominal dollars. Real wages are like real men; they're all about the hats.
I came upon this information in the following manner.
(via e-mail)
Emily to Professor a little over a week ago, upon reviewing some old problems: Er, professor, you can has wrong answer on problem set. You said that you pay the workers in hats. No biggie, but it's dollars, right?
Professor to Emily: No, hats.
Emily to Professor: ...hats aren't money.
Professor to Emily: Well, basically they are.
Emily: ...
*emily's eyes cross, she dies*
*enter helpful ta kristina and helpful ta dan to acknowledge that this is weird but mathematically valid*
*emily un-dies*
Emily: LET THEM EAT HATS!
Thanks to my TA, this concept finally makes sense and tonight I figured out how to pay several groups of workers in many different countries not only in hats, but pillows, iPods, cashews, and congressional documents. But for me, the real wage will always be hats.
My icon reflects this reality.
Sleep for real now.
