The Power of Dialogue
I recently noticed the simultaneous power and hilarity of announcing one's intentions to open a line of dialogue. It's so delightfully affected.
EMILY: Do you expect me to [do something that we might potentially disagree about]?
OTHER PERSON: Well...
EMILY: Because if so, I would like to open a line of dialogue with you about this.
My stomach still hurts from laughing. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?
