Every time his heart skips a beat, worlds come apart.

When Darkness trespasses LuHan’s prison, it emerges from smoke and black powder. It beckons at the blackness surrounding LuHan and glides in sensual and alluring swirls. LuHan gasps and almost crashes two worlds and one dimension, when the Darkness, now taking a shape of silk and leather barely inches away, touches the tips of his fingers, and smiles.
LuHan wants to ask, but even before words could roll out his tongue, he knows. “Kai.”
This time, LuHan loses control over galaxies in emotions forgotten over years of waiting, and Kai wraps him into secure arms. “I finally found you, LuHan.”
***
Now, LuHan is locked in a nightingale cage surrounded by trees and flowers and rivers flowing endlessly. He still has the tips of his fingers wrapped around universes and destinies, seeing and knowing too many things.
Kai, the master of the key, comes to see LuHan between halves of milliseconds to steal touches and kisses from his lips. And even if each time all that’s left of Kai are black feathers and burnt paper, and LuHan causes earthquakes shaking and spinning worlds apart, he lets tiny pieces of his soul to travel with the lonely steps of the Death’s Messenger.
***
When LuHan whispers between sighs and lip bites and nails scrapping skin and toes curling into grass, that instead of the blinding sun and happy chirps and colorful butterflies and never ending green, he’d rather be surrounded by the night’s welcoming dark silence and cicadas’ lazy melodies and wind grazing through rusting leaves and fireflies dancing above warm and still waters and shining stars, servants for the moon and delicious and alluring scents of Jasmine Tobacco flowers filling the air and noises of exotic animals sneaking in burrows of easy preys and mist embracing and hiding all creation, Kai obliges.
***
They lay on a bed made of jasmines and lilies, with LuHan writing paragraphs of history on collarbones and chapped lips, until his eyes catch the faint ghost of a scar under a curled lower lip. LuHan’s fingertips twitch as they slowly trace its outline and he remembers. A gust of wind, cold as loneliness stops time and LuHan is sure, how could he not, that somewhere a world is being devoured by wars and hatred and lava seeping through every crevice of the earth. Kai, though, smiles the gentlest smile.
“JongIn,” LuHan whispers and lets Kai seal his lips.
***
It’s the last game LuHan plays as the only sphere left crumbles at his feet. He sees images of himself and Kai, no, JongIn, playing gods and heroes, saving lives and futures many worlds ago. LuHan realizes, this is their price to pay, as Kai, Darkness incarnate glides his way into LuHan’s arms.
“We are alone.”
LuHan tangles his fingers in JongIn’s hair, free of responsibilities and endless, sleepless days. “Yes.”
JongIn snuggles closer into the warmth and LuHan’s beating heart and LuHan welcomes him, drawing tighter the chains of his nightingale cage and falls asleep into Death’s loving embrace.
