Hm hm. Apparently, writing Fraser/Victoria makes my grammar eat itself in a cannibalistic manner. Also it makes my fingers type "the" instead of what I WANT to type, namely any word starting with "th".

Bleh. Whatever. I am sleepy and silly and determined to make Victoria look like a woobie. I think she's a woobie. Everybody else wants to kill her ( Read more... )

This is as close as people get; if Ray wants something more, well, it's he who is naive. Of course Victoria isn't perfect -- no one is -- but she's close, while the rest of the world maintains an almost indifferent distance. Hundreds upon hundreds of friendly smiles have been sent his way over the years, nearly as many invitations to dinner, thousands of lives owed to his efforts -- yet only one has ever come so close as to drag him from the edge of death. Victoria did that for him, and he for her; if that's not love, he doesn't know where to find it at all.

Ooh, thought-provoking. This is great. :)

*grins* Have I made you love Victoria, though? (I do realize this is mainly a vain attempt, but I am all bothered by the general sense of "Victoria = OMGTHATBITCH" in fandom.)

*tickles your brains* Thanks!

Heh, well, I already have my own theories about Victoria, which are all tied up in a long-abandoned WIP. I think she's unbalanced, but I think she went through a hell of a lot, and certain other parties were not entirely blameless. (As a rule, I don't tend to be "[character] = OMGTHATBITCH", witness my Stella sympathies. :)

I don't love Victoria, but I do pity her. (Or, at least, I did until she shot Dief.)

Well, by "love" I more meant "not hate", really. 'Tis a rare thing.

Shooting Dief is entirely unacceptable. I maintain the theory that she was on acid when she did that one.

............ omg.

FRASER/VICTORIA FIC. In which Victoria is NOT an evil one-dimensional bitch.

I love you to pieces. You are my new Favorite Person Evar.

My favorite part: And after all, the road to true love was never supposed to be easy; this is their own version of difficulty. By the time they've dealt with everything they have to deal with, they'll know how to deal with anything. - oh, this explains SO MUCH about Fraser. *pets him*

And hey! I love Victoria! Or, well, maybe not "love". But she is fascinating and complex and even occasionally sympathetic, and I adore this fic because you totally GET that. Hooray for Victoria non-hate! *cheers on our teeny little club of 2*

Yes, not precisely love, but she deserves more than a simple label of "bitch". It is a waste of Fraser/Victoria fic, to write her as an ambassador from Hell.

So glad you liked it! And yes, *cheers on team* Though I'm fairly certain we are more than two.

Sorry, I still think she's a bitch. *g* Knowing that she's going to get up from that bed and go clean all her fingerprints out of Fraser's apartment does it. Excellent story though, don't get me wrong.

Well, okay, she's a bitch -- but she's a poor little kicked puppy TOO, right? She is a poor little kicked female puppy that grew up and became a bitch!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Hey there, I'm here via 's rec, and I have to tell you that I thought this was fabulous! I'm all onboard with the not-thinking-Victoria-is-hellspawn thing. Because she's not. She's tragic and tortured and she went through pretty much the worst thing a person can go through - betrayal and imprisonment. She's a woobie. And yes, she does terrible things to OFM. But isn't it more interesting to try to understand why than to write her off as "teh villain ( ... )

Whoops, sorry, lipsum (lipsum here on LJ, just in case I screwed up the code again) rec'd this story. You have fans!

I was more trying to convey that Victoria's hatred for Ben is her idea of duty.

Jesus, that's fascinating! That is the smartest thing I've ever heard about the pairing. And now that I re-read, it does come across in your fic - it's subtle but it's there. Also I'm dense and didn't catch the whole "talking herself up to it" thing. Man, I'm all in awe of your brain! Because now that I think about it, yes, it's all about the duty for both of them. And the duty gets in the way of the love, which could be epic but which turns just tragic and sad and desperate. Again with the woobie. I can't wait for your getfraserlaid prompt responses...it's gonna be great!

Good story. I'm not a huge fan of La Belle Metcalfe Sans Merci, but I do think that she's potentially quite interesting. Even after we learn what she's been up to, "Victoria's Secret" leaves a lot of what was actually going on in her head unexplained, so there's plenty of room for fannish exploration. Victoria's thought processes here are believable and sympathetic. Now if only she could have left Dief well enough alone...

Well, I'm not really trying to make people fans of her as such -- or I guess I am, but I'm mainly happy if people realize that Victoria's not two-dimensional, which you seem to. I'm not saying she's a magnificent person, and she's obviously done terrible things to Fraser and Dief -- but she's also a person, and therefore she had reasons for doing the things she's doing. There aren't a lot of people out there who just break people for the hell of breaking people, you know?

Glad you liked the story!
