My major accomplishment today was food shopping. While my wife rested from the trip and three hour time difference, and, of course, kept the pup company, I bravely adventured forth to the market. My three item list turned into a twelve item basket, naturally. The store has moved all of their stock around, just to complicate things. But I persevered, and only spent about forty-five minutes there.
And afterwards I checked out a new package store that has opened in the vast complex of Big Box supercenters, and saved a dollar a bottle on my purchases.
When I got home, the buck was eating drops from the crabapple tree out front. He looked at me for a minute, assessed I was hardly a risk, and kept munching… until the dog came out to the porch: poof!
I didn’t have a pic from today, but here’s one from last night-
Otherwise
- The little pool was loaded with dead flying ants that must have swarmed last night. I skimmed these off, along with some leaves, after having my coffee.
- Breakfast was a thawed bagel.
- Lunch was coleslaw with homemade dressing and a Genoa salami wrap. I make the dressing from my grandmother’s recipe which probably came from a Hellman’s suggestion: mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, vinegar, olive oil, and a dash of light cream.
- Dinner was classic Kraft Mac&Cheese with tuna and peas added in an attempt at meeting the old Four Food Group guidelines ;o) This is a one pot meal: 1 and 3/4 cups water, 1/4 cup milk, add noodles, one 4oz can tuna, undrained (I use solid white albacore, broken into chunks), and peas to taste. Stir, bring to a boil, cover, and immediately drop to low simmer for 7 to 8 minutes. Stir now and then. Add 2 or three tablespoons of butter and the cheese powder, stir until all mixed, and you are ready! Multiple variations are possible.
