Truck Amuck
On the return trip from taking my wife to an appointment today an ‘Engine Hot, AC Shut Down’ warning came on in the truck, though the water temp gauge stayed at 160° (I’ve been watching the gauge for about 1 1/2 years because it wasn’t reaching the ‘normal’ 210° I was used to and figured there was a thermostat issue lurking somewhere). And the noise today... quite the hum from under the hood as the fan raced to cool things down.
I drove to the local Quick Lane at about 9:30, and got the truck back by 2:30... damn quick! And *Ka-ching!* diagnostics, sensor, coolant flush, thermostat. But all is well, for now at least.
Overall this was fortuitous as I had the day off anyway and I knew I needed to get the thing looked at sooner or later.
