I could never be accused of being a Tom Petty fan, but I stumbled upon an amazing album tonight on Amazon Prime Music-

Thank you for the link! ... I do really like some of his stuff, like Freefallin' and Refugee, and work with the Wilburys too..

He has some very nice music, but I never bought any of his albums. I think it was because of the stations I listened to at the time and the friends I had then: they top-40'd his music and played it to death.

It's hard to sort this out: Beautiful Blue is very much a 70's throwback to me... I hear elements I associate with the Dead, Pink Floyd, and Led Zep in there... even Neil Young, all combined as a classic Tom Petty 'last waltz.' I don't even hear the lyrics, just the the melody.

Ah yeah... ^v^ ... When it comes to songs, the music-arrangement-melody-rhythm bear so much more weight than lyrics.. I can name lots of songs with poor or even detestable lyrics, which I just tune out to enjoy the song.. or even the way the words are sung... but not their meaning (if they even have one) ... I've often felt I should do an entry about that.. I think I might have even... :} ...

I wish you would do that entry :D

I've been humming a song I used to really like (Fall Out Boy, 27), but on actually listening to the lyrics I like it less and less!

The line I loved was "I wanted it so bad I'd shoot the sunshine into my veins." Great imagery. I used to say that about Furry sunshine!

The lines I dislike are about anchors on the shirts, and about friends being stars or just black holes...
