when we decided that kevin would take the job in peoria, i knew that there would be fewer teaching opportunities for me down "south" than up in the suburbs. last fall i was already thinking ahead and hoping that my student teaching placement would be great and that there might be a full time position for me there as well. turns out that isn't the case and i am/was back to square one. i put off the job hunt because i probably should finish my master's degree first - or so i said. plus there aren't any postings in the school districts that i would be interested in (my choices are limited) right now. well last week i got a call from my advisor saying that there may be a part-time position open at u-high in the fall. u-high is the teaching/lab school associated with isu. i didn't even consider u-high as an option because i thought it would be out my my league. i really want the job. it would be perfect. i would teach 2 classes and then be able to finish up my master's degree. there would probably be a full time position the following year. i would have a small commute, but nothing worse than living in chicago. i really want this job and am also really nervous. this is my first teaching position application process. eeek!
