MMMMMMMMMM CCCCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!
K well, let's just get this out of my system NOW lol.. so I don't bother up your Friend Pages for the next MONTH or so!
I waited for the new Mariah CD, and when I say waited.. I WAITED. I downloaded the whole cd, and put it on my iPod ONLY to play it AFTER I bought the actual CD (that way I didn't have to come home and rip it to the computer... I could actually listen to it on the way home). But I ended up sleeping in on Tuesday, when I was supposed to go to HMV and get the two versions of the CD that day. I went to work.. and WOOOOOO!!! Shoppers was selling it for 13.99 (plus my discount!! HAHA)
So I bought it,,, plus 4 magazines, and about 7 newspapers to cut out all the reviews and pics!
And I got home, and ended up listening to the CD on my computer anyways haha.
I listened to it a few times in a row, and here's what I thought!
For all those that don't care a bit about Mariah, I'm putting this behind a cut lol.

Ok so I've had a couple days to get used to the new CD, and here's my faves: Not including the songs previously heard *Migrate, TMB, and That Chick*

Cruise Control: I really did not think that I would like Cruise Control.. but SERIOUSLY!! It has such a damn good vibe, it's so breezy and summery, and Mariah's patois just flows, it doesn't sound out of place, and Damien Marley's part just sounds so light and perfect. From the reviews, I didn't know what to expect from this song.. but considering that I don't really like reggae, I was thinking like.. MEH. But I was REALLY suprised with this one.
HEAT... (Which is only available on the International version of the CD) what can I say here.. OMG. This song should have been on the regular CD.. it is so fun, and just out of nowhere.. it's Mariah getting all feisty.. and DAMN. I feel so good listening to this song, it's rediculous! (On a note: it reminds me a lot of Alicia Keys' song "Juciest".. just the whole "feeling" of the song, both of them are so "yeah I'm so awesome look at me!" lol)
I Stay In Love: Classic love song, and every word just cuts into my own sitch. I love this song so much. It's probably the most personal on the record for me.
For The Record: This song has such a good beat, and sounds very dreamy. I like the lyrics a lot, and the melody is so hot, PLUS, the violin loop in the background just makes it sound so different. And then she does some things in the second verse with the tempo... AHH! It is just very unique.

So those are my favorites, then there's the other songs that I love but aren't my favorites, but COULD become very well my favorites in a short while lol.
Side Effects: This song has ONE HELL OF A BEAT.. It really is a fucking good song, regardless of the deep and kind of disturbing lyrics, the chorus has a killer melody. And the "oh oh oh"'s in the background are fucking amazing.. it just sounds DOPE. This is one of the hardest beats, and different sounds, that Mariah has ever came out with.. and it's amazing.
Bye Bye: The second single from the album, which I heard live on Oprah the day before the album came out. It really is a "sing along" song, lyrically, kinda like One Sweet Day, but not as sappy and hurt-filled as that song. It has a bit more of an up-tempo beat, and it's very catchy.
Thanx 4 Nothin: Too short, but a good vibe, and definately awesome lyrics. Kinda strikes me right in the heart, lyrically, cuz I'm going through that kinda thing right now. But again, it's too short! It could have been a "Breakdown" kinda song.. but the fact that it's so short, I don't think it lives up to its full potential.

Now for the songs that I have some issues with lol.
I Wish You Well: I really thought that this song was going to be more, but it's growing on me.
With just a piano.. it sounds beautiful, but the song is kind of lyrically odd, and the structure of the song is a bit hard to remember. It really is a beautiful song, but right now not one of my favourites.
OOC: It's really catchy, and fun to sing, but it hasn't given me an emotional connection yet.
Loving U Long Time: Has a really fun awesome beat, but it's kind of weird, I don't feel any connection to this song yet.
Love Story, Last Kiss, and 4real4real kind of haven't grown on my yet. Love Story and Last Kiss are like the same song to me right now. I guess I'll see how it goes after I listen to them 100 more times lol.. and when I acutally know the lryics.. I might find them different to sing then. I always connect more to songs, after I learn how to sing them, and make them my own.

Lastly, the songs that have already been released, here's what I think of them!
Touch My Body: CLASSIC Mariah of course. I have about 12 remixes of this song, and it's just such a good song. When I first heard this song.. I was like.. O.M.G, and it still feels the same 2 months later. It's just such a fun, classic, flirty, feel good song. I love it!
Migrate: Probably the best single after Touch My Body. It's so haaaaaaaaaaarrrd. The beat, T-Pain's rap, everything is just so good, and so put together! If they DON'T PLAY this in the clubs, I will be astonished. It's such a club song, and I can't wait to hear the remixes of this one!!! The lyrics are so unlike anything Mariah has ever done, and I didn't like this song at first (when I heard it live on Saturday Night Live).. but it grew on me FAST. I do miss the "T-PAIN!!!" that she did live, because it's not on the album cut, but I just sing it anyways!! LOL.. This song makes me feel divalicious. I love this song.
That Chick: Such a fun song.. and it's really really fun to sing. "Got flava like icecream".. DAMN. A new Mariah-ism lol!! You know every girl is going to be quoting that one! LOL! I love singing this song! It just makes a woman feel S-E-X-E-H!!!

OK so a couple days more of listening and my thoughts are changing slowly!
My mind is changing on most of the songs. When I sing them, there's always a little part of each song that I can't wait to get to == the "special" unique part of the song, even if it's only a one second note or something.. there's always something in each song, or I just learn how to sing it, and that makes it fun! :)
So the songs that I had issues with at first, now all have something that I want to hear each time, and so I listen to them more - which makes me love them more lol..
So Side Effects is probably the song I play the most now.. I don't relate to all of the lyrics, but there are some parts.. like "If I started I'd keep crying for the rest of my life".. yeah stuff like that. And the song is just so friggen good. The "Oh oh oh's" in the background.. OMG. And the melody progression.. ACK. It's also so different.. that it's just so amazing. I'm definately hooked on that song.
Thanx 4 Nothin is definately growing on me.. the line "I never knew enough about you babe".. just gets it for me. As I said though.. I really wish it had more to it.. but it is what it is lol :)

I Wish You Well.. after singing it, and getting the flow of the song, and just getting the lyrics down.. now.. I love the song. At first.. it was just oddly structured.. and now I get the structure more.. and the last line of the song, "They have greatly oppressed me from my youth
But they have not gained victory over me".. just gets me every time. I guess that this song is becoming more powerful to me every time I hear it. It truly does inspire.. and not just inspire about God.. but it inspires me as a strong woman. Forgiveness. It's just a good thing to sing about :)

LOL.. how she says "hey baybay".. omg.. it's just one of those Mariah things that only us lambs get lol.. I can't wait for that part in the song! I wish it was a whole song based on Hey baybay! lol
Last Kiss.. I think that the vocals in this song are awesome now. I love singing it. The melody is really pretty, and even though it's kind of a regular song, I think the vocals are the best part.
4Real4Real.. I still don't like this song a whole lot, but I love the verses. They are really sexy, and cute, and it's fun to sing. And of course, I'm saying "for real for real" a lot more in my normal everyday talk now lol.
And so,, my favorites are still the same as before, but now I can honestly say that Side Effects is one of the knock out songs on this CD. Musically, lyrically, beat wise, and vocals. It's usually the first song I play when I leave for work everyday lol.
And I'm still IN LOVE with For The Record, Cruise Control, I Stay In Love, and HEAAAAAAAAT!!! I still can't believe that that song didn't make the cut for the regular CD.. it's so friggen awesome!
