I could go on forever about the ignorance of mechanics. But I will be brief, I've been verbally venting a lot today, and don't feel like repeating it all in text.
I will sum up the verbal with a line I shared with Chris S. "I feel like I've been catching all week and never got to the mound to pitch. I think they were pitching a 10 foot pole without lube." BTW thanks again Chris and Dennis for the ride.
Mechanic #1 on third visit to shop #1: "I just do what I'm told, when I started to take the timing belt off I knew it was not the problem, it was lined up perfectly and it wasn't going to fix anything."
Me: "That is when you are supposed to call me and tell me that your initial estimate will not solve the problem, before you complete the $211 in labor and another $70 in parts."
Another week and four other mechanic shops later:
Mechanic #6: Yeah, when they replaced the "unnecessary timing belt" they installed it incorrectly. (Too bad Mechanic #1, could not put the new timing belt on as straight as he took it off.) All they should have done was replace the spark plug wires. What did you say they charged you?"
After calling Shop #1's Manager and District manager, they are going to refund my money and reimburse me for the money I had to pay shop #3. Personally, as bad as some of you know I can be, these managers only had to deal with an aggravated me. They should be thankful that they didn't have to deal with my Dad. I miss him.
