A/N: I wrote this for Iliana. .3. Unnie, it took so long and it's so short. Forgive me. OTL
Mood:
JOYFUL
There was something about her. Perhaps the subtle crease in her brow as she danced, how she concentrated on moving her feet in time to the music that she didn't even realize how her lips pursed; or perhaps the curve of her hips, the way they swayed to the beat, moving seemingly of their own accord.
Kangin knew, though. He knew how much effort she put into each performance and it infuriated for reasons he couldn't explain. His friends wrote it off as sexual frustration, though he was quick to deny. He refused to their claims of his having a crush ("It's an unhealthy obsession," Heechul had said) and even quicker to defend his words with his fists.
Heechul still had fading bruises to attest to this.
Though, despite his protests Kangin knew his friends were right. His ego was just too large for him to admit, even to himself considering he even lied to himself half the time. What his friends knew (which was a lot, considering Kangin babbled like a lonely old croon when he had a few beers too many) was enough to slowly put things in action.
Donghae, a mutual friend, would place raccoon related merchandise on her duffel bag at dance practice, claiming Kangin had put it there. She would know better, Donghae was a horrible liar, but played along with the boy's silly antics because he had an endearing smile. She would never admit that in the future she’d like a child just like Donghae.
It took exactly one day for Heechul to realize Kangin’s feelings for Iliana.
It took exactly four minutes for Donghae to realize Iliana had feelings for Kangin.
Heechul was the first to approach Donghae. They didn’t get along, exactly. Heechul’s too cool for you attitude had Donghae avoiding him since kindergarten, and Donghae’s childish antics were much too… immature for Heechul. They sat down in the library one day… and everything just clicked.
“C’mon, Ili, we have to go~” Donghae whined, tugging on Iliana’s arm. The younger girl just rolled her eyes, grinning, adjusting her dance bag on her shoulder. The guy had jumped her on her way into the studio, and now was leading her away from his car on a busy street in Seoul. He had told her to leave her bag in the trunk, but of course she had refused. “Hurry, we’re in a hurry. You do all that dancing and can’t even move your feet fast enough!”
He was quite literally bouncing along, big grin on his face as they walked. Iliana shook her head, laughing, unable to stop long enough to form words. She was moving as fast as she wanted- she wasn’t exactly a fan of Donghae’s surprises, so she was skeptical. Usually they ended with Donghae in jail and five hundred dollars less in her bank account (despite popular belief, her job actually did pay well; it was just Donghae’s surprises that left her penniless).
For some reason Iliana was not surprised when she was dragged into a club. Donghae, unsurprisingly, abandoned her at the bar to disappear into the throng of people melded together on the dance floor. What did surprise her was the man that stepped up to her side. When she finally spotted Donghae again he sent her a tiny wave and she immediately knew this was his surprise. She swallowed the lump in her throat and turned slowly in her seat to face Kangin.
“Hello,” she told him, heart thumping against her throat.
He smiled, and her heart went even crazier. She’d have to yell at Donghae later.
“I’m surprised you agreed to this,” he said, shaking his head with a gentle laugh.
“Agreed to what?” Iliana questioned, eyes narrowing. What exactly was going on?
He actually looked confused, and the expression made Iliana’s heart squeeze. He was actually kind of cute when he wasn’t trying to act like tough shit. She looked away from him, tapping her fingers against the counter, raising and eyebrow, prompting him to answer.
“Well, Heechul-hyung said you’d teach me to dance.”
Iliana gaped at the kingka. He had to be joking. He really had to be joking. But, when she looked towards Donghae, the male was talking to none other than Heechul, and the older male had a look of sheer satisfaction written upon his face. Iliana seethed, jumping from her seat. A hand on her arm stopped her from beating the crap out of Heechul. She looked over at Kangin. He actually looked guilty.
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to,” he told her, rubbing the back of his neck. “I mean, I’m guessing Donghae didn’t tell you. I don’t… want to force you into something you don’t want to do.”
Iliana glanced back at Donghae and Heechul, both looking back at her curiously. Heechul looked challenging, and she couldn’t just say no to that kind of challenge. She shook her head, grabbing Kangin’s arm and leading him to the dance floor.
Heechul raised an eyebrow, and Donghae’s mouth was in a small ‘o’ shape. Iliana took Kangin to an empty corner, still in view of Heechul and Donghae, and guided his hands to her hips. He wasn’t shy at all when she started moving to the beat of the music; instead, he actually followed her beat for beat. When she glanced at Heechul he had a smirk on his face.
Iliana shivered when Kangin’s fingers threaded through her hair, and her head was tilted back so he could place a kiss on her pulse.
“I always knew how to dance,” he murmured against her neck.
Yes, Iliana would definitely have to beat up Donghae.
But first, she needed to teach Kangin how to dance properly.
