Ooooh. Wow, the clouds are gorgeous right now. There are just a few wispy bits and they're a rosy pink. The rest of the sky is quite blue - the blue you get right before sunset.
Tuesday -
Tonight I went out with friends to see my first production at the Byre Theatre. Wow. That's a nice theatre. The leg room was a bit cramped, but it was stadium seating so that there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' was done very well. The set was minimal, there were lots of books scattered around a bare stage and these could be piled up to form hiding places. Most of the set was made by the sprites who would form doorways, tables, bookshelves, beds...whatever was needed. There were some interesting bits with puppets, with Prospero as a puppeteer controlling marionette forms of the characters. Rather disturbing was Caliban who was a bit disproportionate...as part of his costume included an unnatrually long dildo. The actors were very good and I'm glad I went to see the show.
Thursday -
Another ceilidh! yay! This time I went with a different group of friends: A, K, T, C and J. Once again it was fun...and I'm starting to match dances with their titles. I know what steps to do for Strip the Willow, Canadian Barndance, and Gay Gordon's. w00t! After the ceilidh I went with a different set of friends to the pub. The group sounds like the beginning of a joke: two Americans, two be-kilted Scotsmen, and an Englishman walk into a pub... I had a good time talking to Wendy about scientific research and various other subjects.
Friday -
I did not go to the bop tonight. :-( I did go out to a (different) pub with a different crowd - this time mostly male...that was an experience. Everyone was very nice and I learned how to play the card game Scabby Queen. Went back to front hall and lounged on my lover, the radiator, and then went up to my room to read.
Saturday -
This evening was a game night! A group of us went over to New Hall (very reminiscent of a prison) and played Compatability, Boggle, and Pit...and ate way too much chocolate. We brought some of it back with us to front hall, set it out to offer to everyone, and listened to my wild and crazy iTunes selection. It was quite nice to have everyone so appreciative of my music and I found that one of the Scottish guys here is a huge fan of Battlefield Band! Yay!
Well, that's about all of interest happening in my life. I'm currently holed up starting the research for my two essays due in three weeks; at least they're about interesting topics. This evening I think I will leave Siberia (my room) in order to check out the Ann Summers Party (think a Tupperware party...only selling things you would find at Frederick's of Hollywood/Victoria's Secret/Priscilla's instead of Tupperware) in west lounge. Should be interesting.
