Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The coolest turtles are back in town, and what a comeback this is! The new
TMNT is well balanced to keep both, the old-timer and the new kid on the block, glued to the screen and begging for more. It was actually good fun catching up on those yuppie lines we've all grown up on. Nobody says it better than the turtles! :) If you're an old fan, you don't want to miss it! If you're not, well, uhmm.. go watch it for the super-sexy CGI animation. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
A sizzling start to this year's movie bonanza, marching up ahead of Spider Man - 3 and Pirates - 3 (due in May), and Ratatouille and Harry Potter - 5 both of which will make their appearance in the back-end of this season. :)
Breakfast on Pluto
If you thought Cillian Murphy rocked as the "Scarecrow" in Batman Begins, wait till you catch him do some real acting in
Breakfast on Pluto. This is a fabulously told story of an endearing character named Patrick/Patricia "Kitten" Braden (Murphy) who, with the help of his sweet charm and wit, does not let the harsh realities of life change who or what he really is.
Breakfast on Pluto
Abandoned by his mother at birth in a small Irish town and brought up in a foster family, Patrick realises at an early age that he is somewhat different from the others. He prefers the world of dressing gowns and lipsticks instead of shorts or pants. His foster family, however, finds it difficult to accept Patrick's instincts and he never receives the love and warmth he deserves as a child. He runs away from home as a teenager in search of his biological mother and a life more suitable for him. The movie thus follows Patrick "Kitten" in his adventures on the streets of London and in the many relationships with everyone he mets. It is a dark whimsical comedy with lovely hummable music. Cillian Murphy is terrific in the lead role as the transgender filled with desire for life and the gumption to "live" it. Cillian's portrayal is not just believable but also very heartwarming. Narrated in 30-odd autobiographical chapters, the storyline is crisp and cheery, successfully avoiding sentimental pitfalls. All in all, Breakfast on Pluto does leave you with a little more faith in that inherent goodness that exists in each one of us than what you initially started off with.
