wow, so my mom said she heard he was 17 (she's probably wrong) so that means this was the same tiger that was there when I graduated in 1988! I can't remember, though, Mike IV dying and the new one coming in, but I was probably too busy drinking...er...studying.

Hmm. Not sure where I got the 22-years-old figure. This T-P article gives his age as 17. I remember visiting an earlier Mike (the Third, perhaps?) in his very small old cage whenever I went to visit my grandmother in Baton Rouge. I remember those visits whenever we have discussions at school about first-generaion college students: I remember that there was never any doubt in my family that we would all go to college (and probably LSU) and realize that such expectations did give me a step up in the college game. And I owe it all to Mike.

Wow, so my mom WAS right. My parents didn't give much thought or push to me going to college. To them, college was a luxury. I think they expected me to go to Nicholl's State which was near my home. As for college football, they were even TULANE fans. But, i didn't get a scholarship to Tulane, so I opted for the purple and gold. I had never gone to an LSU game until college and I really loved being in Tiger Stadium. I relished every moment of college (some moments maybe relished too much). It was a great experience. One and half hours away from my little town and the entire world was shown to me.

And of course I'm thrilled that the Wolverines were able to come back against MSU.
Hail to the victors!
