10 years ago I had just lost my virginity with Jennifer Kilburn. 10 years ago I owned nothing but silk boxer shorts. 10 years ago I was cool cuz i had an email address. 10 years ago I used my phone to hook up to the internet.
Amazing what can change in just over a decade. Now there are relatively few sexual experiences that I am a virgin too (there was only that one time with the gerbal, I swear!) and these days all those experiences are with the male species. Now i don't own any silk boxer shorts, mostly just briefs... i mean it stopped growning a long time ago, might as well accept it, get comfortable and move on right? And now i'm cool cuz my email has instant messaging built in. lol. And now i can walk around the house with my laptop hooked up to nothing and surf the net.
It's amazing to think that my niece will never have lived a day without the presence of the internet, that she probably won't really know what a VHS is that there won't ever be a picture of here that is taken on a roll of film that's put in an envelope and dropped in a bin at CVS.
It's extraordinary to think I have friends out there, one of whom was at the x-mas party who have always had the net in their life. And just as equally as terrifying to think that the only reason i ever met them was because of various insundry websites that i roam from time to time.. huh.. what jefe? ok, day to day..what? no! i'm not that bad, it's not hour to hour... i mean my workplace does have some firewalls.
How many people wouldn't be in your life right now if the internet never existed? How different would your relationships be with some of your friends if it didn't exist? And much harder would you have to work to get laid if you couldn't jump onto any number of websites and type in "looking to fuck tight submissive bottom who likes to bury face in pillow" and have three boys raising their eager hands. Huh? Sorry was that too much? lol. Well here' how it would've affected my life somewhat...
I wouldn't have chatted with my husband in a brief email or two prior to my blind date with him.
I wouldn't have been able to email him on a daily basis back when i was getting to know him to keep his attention on me and away from the rich lawyer he was hanging with.
I wouldn't have been able to chat with other people while stranded in the apartment in Michigan.
I wouldn't have been able to maintain close contact with my friends in Boston so when i returned to them i didn't miss 2 years of their lives.
I wouldn't be able to keep track of friends who have moved with relative ease and stay in their lives.
I wouldn't be able to retain any semblance of sanity while working desk jobs.
I wouldn't be able to chat with one of my best friends every day, a friend who only opened up to me because of our ability to chat with each other day to day.
And those are just a few of the ways things would be different. Not to mention the fact that I wouldn't be able to write about any of this so that you could read it laugh at me, laugh with me, get disgusted by me, and still read on about my life. lol
