Em & I were at Trader Joe’s the other day when I overheard a pretty amusing (disturbing?) conversation. But first, a little bit of context.

The sample counter was advertising two things. There was a big sign that said Coffee From East Africa: Burundi - blahblahblah. Except the “coffee from” part was small, while the “East Africa: Burundi” part was big and bold. Next to it was a sign advertising Turkey Meatloaf. The coffee was set out so you could help yourself, and next to it, the guy was passing out samples of meatloaf.

Ok. So a few minutes after passing the sample booth, I overheard a husband and wife talking to each other:

Husband: What’s that? (gesturing to what the wife was sampling)
Wife: Oh! It’s East African Burundi!
Husband: Really? What the heck is Burundi?
Wife: I’m not really sure…but it tastes a lot like meatloaf!

*crickets chirping………*
