Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 *~*~*~*~*~*
It would be over soon. Soon, months of suffering would get a meaning, would create a result. Masuda sat on Tegoshi’s bed, watched how the boy was sleeping peacefully. He removed some bangs from Tegoshi’s face with his hand and caressed his forehead. He loved seeing that look on Tegoshi’s face, the peaceful expression always made him feel calm and warm inside. His hands made their way down Tegoshi’s face, he loved it just like this, just being able to feel his boyfriend’s warmth under his fingers. Masuda smiled when he saw how Tegoshi’s eyes fluttered open. It took a couple of seconds for Tegoshi to wake up completely and notice Masuda, but when he did, a big smile spread across his face. He sat up quickly and hugged Masuda tightly, smiled against his cheek. Masuda patted his back lightly and laughed. “Did you miss me that much?”
Tegoshi answered by placing a kiss on Masuda’s cheek and drawing his hands up and down his back. Masuda couldn’t help but smile. “I’ve missed you just as much as well.”
Tegoshi pulled back a bit to look Masuda in the eyes, smiling widely. Masuda leaned their foreheads together and touched Tegoshi’s cheek. “It’ll be over today, won’t it?”
Tegoshi nodded slightly. Masuda squeezed his hand. “Are you nervous about the operation?”
Tegoshi shook his head and smiled, squeezing Masuda’s hand. “Good. But I took the day off, so I’ll be able to spend the entire day here. I want to be with you when you wake up from the anaesthesia.”
Tegoshi almost looked like he was going to cry, and Masuda hit him in the head lightly, laughing. “You don’t have to look like that, it’s obvious I’ll be here. I don’t want you to be alone.”
Tegoshi just smiled and pressed his lips against Masuda’s. Masuda knew that it was a ‘thank you’. He knew without being told, because really, they didn’t need words. It was totally fine like this.
Masuda stayed with Tegoshi the entire day, and when it was time for Tegoshi’s operation, Masuda sat just outside. He wasn’t worried, or maybe he was a bit nervous, but Yamashita was a really good doctor who would surely take good care of the operation. Masuda wasn’t sure how long he sat there, but he knew that the operation had ended when Yamashita was stepping out of the operation-room. Masuda rose up, bowed slightly and held his breath.
“The operation ended fine. The tumour is gone without any obstacles.”
Masuda smiled out of relief, and he suddenly felt how tears started to fall down his cheeks. It had to be all the stress that finally let go. Yamashita smiled and patted his shoulder. “Come on, I’ll follow you to his room. Because you want to be there when he wakes up, right?”
Masuda just nodded and followed behind Yamashita, still crying, more or less out of happiness.
Tegoshi hadn’t woken up yet when they arrived at his room, and Masuda sat down beside him and grabbed his hand. He caressed the back of Tegoshi’s hand with his thumb, smiling just by being by his side. Smiling just because now his suffering was over. He couldn’t help but laugh when Tegoshi slowly woke up, he looked so much like a drunken puppy, because waking up from the anaesthesia made him a bit groggy.
Tegoshi blinked a few times in the light, almost a bit cross-eyed and smiling widely. Masuda laughed and embraced the boy, tears falling freely from his eyes. He pulled away just to look at the boy underneath him and noticed the tears that ran from his eyes as well. Masuda smiled widely and helped Tegoshi to sit up, held him close, tightly. Tegoshi’s arms found their way around Masuda’s waist, and his hold was still weak. Masuda buried his nose in Tegoshi’s neck just o inhale his smell, feel his warmth. “You’re so close now, Yuya. So close. It’ll be over soon, just hang in there.”
Tegoshi pulled away a bit, smiling sweetly. Then he leaned in, placing a kiss on Masuda’s lips, soft and tender just as usual. Masuda wasn’t late to respond, placing a hand behind Tegoshi’s neck, deepening the kiss. When they pulled apart, they just looked at each other, smiling, crying out of happiness. It was a long time since Masuda had felt this happy. Tegoshi’s time in the hospital had been like a cold, hard winter, but now spring was on its way.

Masuda flinched when he heard the door to his apartment open and just waited, waited for the footsteps in the hall to come closer. When he saw how his boyfriend and Yamashita entered the living room, he shouted loudly, among with the others in the room: “Welcome home!”
Tegoshi’s expression was more than surprised, his eyes was wide, just as his mouth as he stared at the scenery in front of him. The entire room was decorated with balloons and other decorations. Shige and Koyama held a big sign saying ‘Welcome home!’, and Tegoshi’s parents were there too, smiling when they saw their son entering the room. Masuda hurried to Tegoshi’s side and hugged him tightly. “Welcome home, sweetheart.”
Tegoshi pulled away a bit and just stared at Masuda, his bottom lip trembling a bit. Masuda just laughed and hugged him again. “It’s over, baby, its over. You’re home now.”
Tegoshi wrapped his arms around Masuda’s waist and sobbed, burying his face in Masuda’s shoulder. Masuda just patted his back and broke the hug to lead the boy to the sofa. Tegoshi’s mother wasn’t late to sit down beside her son, hugging him tightly. Masuda smiled at the happy family-scene when Tegoshi’s father sat down on the other side, patting his son’s back. Yamashita walked towards Masuda, smiling widely. “You should have seen his disappointed face when you didn’t come to pick him up. He wanted to leave the hospital with you.”
Masuda laughed, because he could totally imagine Tegoshi’s disappointed, pouting face. “Well, I wanted to be here to welcome him home instead.”
Yamashita smiled. “Well, he looks quite happy with this too.”
Masuda agreed, and he felt so warm inside when seeing Tegoshi like this, still weak after the treatment, but happy and smiling. Free. It warmed his heart, especially when Tegoshi rose from the sofa and walked towards him, wrapping his arms around him when he was close enough. Masuda pulled the boy even closer to himself and rested his head on his shoulder. “I’m so glad you’re home, Yuya.”
Tegoshi placed a kiss on the side of his forehead and let his hands wander up and down his back. Masuda pulled back a bit and looked at the boy in front of him, smiled at the beautiful sight. “My Yuya is home again. I knew you would get through anything.”
Tegoshi smiled before placing a soft kiss on Masuda’s lips, smiling into it when Masuda deepened it, forgetting that they weren’t alone in the room. He heard how Tegoshi’s mother giggled and whispered something to her husband, but he didn’t care. He was so incredibly happy at the moment that nothing else than the boy in his arms mattered. Things had been so dark, but now it could only get better.

Masuda could hear footsteps as fast as he opened the door to his apartment, and soon saw Tegoshi jumping towards him, a smile plastered on his face. Masuda expected his usual ‘welcome home’-hug, but Tegoshi held up a paper in front of his face instead, smiling widely. Masuda read some of the words on the paper and ended up smiling as well. “You graduated?”
Tegoshi nodded, still smiling like he had won ten million dollars. “That’s great!” Masuda threw his arms around the boy and held him tightly. “You’ve worked so hard, I’m so proud of you.”
Tegoshi pulled away a bit, eyes sparkled a bit more at the word ‘proud’. He pouted his lips, and Masuda was too willing to give him the kiss he waited for. That thing hadn’t changed, Masuda was still willing to give Tegoshi whatever he wanted, and he didn’t even thought of it as a bad thing. Tegoshi deserved to be spoiled.
They walked to the living room together, Masuda sat down on the sofa, and Tegoshi sat down on his lap. Masuda wrapped his arms around the boy’s waist and giggled softly in his ear. Two months had passed since Tegoshi had been released from the hospital. He looked much healthier now, not as thin, his face got some colour, and his hair had started to grow out again. Masuda was so glad that Tegoshi was feeling better, it was the thing that meant the most to him in the world. He held Tegoshi close and leaned his cheek against the boy’s shoulder. “I talked to Koyama today.”
Tegoshi tipped his head to the side with a curious expression. Masuda smiled and pinched his cheek. “It looks like he and Shige is going to a double-date with Yamashita and Koyama’s friend Ryo.”
Tegoshi made a thumb up and smiled. “That’s great; I think Yamashita deserves someone to be with.”
Tegoshi nodded before leaning his forehead against Masuda’s, stroking his cheek with the back of his hand. Masuda giggled. “You can’t understand how much I love you, Yuya.”
Tegoshi tipped his head to the side and smiled sweetly, then he leaned in and kissed Masuda, arms wrapping around his neck. There was nothing in the world that Masuda loved more than Tegoshi, his touch, his smell and his warmth. He didn’t even need to hear Tegoshi’s voice, this was totally fine with just this. He would never demand anything more than Tegoshi, it was all he needed in his life. “Yuya, I love you.”
Tegoshi smiled and kissed Masuda’s cheek. “Do you love me?”
Tegoshi smiled and nodded, trailing kisses down Masuda’s jaw line. “I know. You don’t need to say it, I still know.”
Tegoshi looked up at him, expression a mix of surprise and confusion. Masuda stroke his cheek. “It doesn’t matter that you don’t have a voice, that you can’t speak to me. I’m happy just like this, and I don’t wish for anything else that you being healthy and happy.”
Tegoshi bit his lip, eyes slowly starting to tear up. Masuda laughed lightly and hugged the boy. “It’s true. This is paradise to me, and you’re the key to it.”
Tegoshi smiled, tears finding their way down his cheeks. He kissed Masuda’s temple before pushing him down, lying down on top of him. Masuda laughed quietly. “Are you going to sleep?”
Tegoshi nodded and closed his eyes, looking quite comfortable. Masuda wrapped his arms around the boy and closed his eyes as well. “Make sure you dream about me, because I’m going to dream about you.”
