Persistence Pays

One official-looking letter sent and three weeks of waiting later, I have had my old (I'm sure 20+ year), rickety and beige-and-brown stove removed and replaced with something sleek, sexy, white, and totally new. New as in "don't forget to burn it in for half an hour before cooking food in it" new. But not self-cleaning, unfortunately. It's ( Read more... )

Oh my God I'm always so scared of breaking Riedels at work!

Are they all Riedels?

Every. Last. One. Terrifying!

Dude. Totally. Makes you long for the heady, stress-free shifts where you have to just roll up those little towels that they keep in the baskets in the washrooms.

It's too bad that I didn't even notice that we were drinking out of swishy stemware!

Aw, swishy stemware ain't no thing. I've got some Bohemian crystal from the Glebe Emporium that's just as nice as any Riedel. They can, indeed, bite me (Riedel, that is).

I'm glad you agree! Those ones you have may be very similar to, if not the same as, the ones I got. (Because obviously I am assuming here that there is only one place in Czech that makes crystal glasses.)

Hooray for big glasses!

Oh, I picked up the final three ones, and they are not only Bohemian, but Bohemia brand. Some manner of stylized B on the foot of the glass, too. In case yours are the same ones and all that jazz.

At the risk of making this a contest, we headed out to The Emporium after Whalesbone (and before dessert at The Urban Pear) and I think my glasses are even bigger than the ones that they had there. Mine are . . . 850 mL, if I remember correctly? Comically large. Maybe too large, depending on how tall you are.

It is ALWAYS a contest!

I was hoping you wouldn't notice!

Next on my list of things to acquire: a couple brandy snifters. I want to treat my Calvados right.

I have added info! They are, IIRC, made by Belfor and are also available at my Favourite Crack Den, MCL Hospitality!

PS: You suck re: this weekend. Next time you are in O-town we'll have to totally hook up. Maybe if you're really nice to me we can go to Beckta!

Oh, absolutely. The next time I'm fixing to go to Beckta you're definitely coming along for the ride.

I don't know if I'm going to be back in the area until Christmas but, mark my words, a trip to Beckta will be made at that time. There'll be a couple of people in town that need to have a Beckta Experience. And I'm already longing to go again.

And hey, if you're with me they'll treat you RIGHT.
