Happy New Year and other stuff

Well, I would be remiss if I didn't start this entry without a wish to my LJ friends for a Happy New Year...so, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Anyway, on to other things...

Well, my job at Bath & BodyWorks is over. My last day was Dec. 31. They don't have anymore hours to give out, so a lot of us were let go, but some were kept. I was hoping to be one of the ones who were kept, but, unfortunately I wasn't. I actually found out on Dec. 30 that I wasn't being kept. I had just clocked out and went to see if the schedule for Jan. 1 to Jan. 7 had been made out. It had, and my name wasn't on it. I've always known that this was a seasonal position, but when I saw the new schedule, I cried. I really loved working at B&BW, and all the girls (and one guy) were great. There wasn't anyone there that I disliked. The managers were cool, too. In fact, when Lexi (one of the co-managers) heard that I was upset the night before, she talked to me privately to make sure that I was okay and that I didn't have a bad experience with the company or any one of the employees to have caused me to cry. I told her that it wasn't anyone or anything at the company that made cry. It was just that I really enjoyed working there and that I had really been hoping to be kept and seeing that my name wasn't on the schedule just got to me. Lexi then explained that they would have loved to keep everyone that had been hired for the seasonal positions, but they are only alloted 800 hours for the holidays, and then that number drops to 300, with about 80% of it going to management. She said that if they had kept everyone, the most hours that people would have been getting would have been 4 or 5 hours per week.

So yeah, I did cry on my second to last day and I started to cry on my last day. But I'm okay, really. They will be hiring again starting around the end of January/beginning of February for Valentine's Day, so you can best believe that I'll be filling out an application. I'll also be filling out an application at the end of March/beginning of April for Mother's Day and also the end of May for the June Sale. And I heard that sometimes the June Sale extends into July, so my stint with B&BW isn't over. I'll have numerous opportunities to be the perfect employee so that I'll graduate from a seasonal employee to a permanent employee. Yeah, I know that I can apply at other places, but I don't want to work anywhere else. That's how much I enjoyed being there.

So...how was everyone's Christmas? Mine was m'eh. I was sick. The plan was to go to church, drive out to my parents' house, open gifts there, then head over to the hotel where my aunt & uncle had rented a banquet hall for Christmas dinner. I woke up Christmas morning feeling like a sack of shit. I got the kids up so that they could get ready for church. Chris and Mikey ended up staying home with me while I continued to get ready. I knew I wasn't going to make it to church, so I continued to get ready to go over my parents' house. As I was getting dressed, I noticed Christopher kept falling asleep...which is something he never does, unless of course, he's not feeling well. Well, by the time we got to my parents' house, Christopher started to feel crappy, though he didn't want to admit it. I made the decision that I was just going to stay at my mom and dad's house, since I felt so horrible. Meanwhile, Christopher is literally falling asleep on his feet, so my mom feels his forehead and tells me that he has a fever. Big David felt Chris' forehead, and concurred with my mom. So then the decision was made that Christopher would stay with me. He wasn't happy about that, but he ended up sleeping most of the time everyone was gone. So, anyway...that's how I spent my Christmas. Fun, huh? NOT!!
