District 9

Well, the boys liked it. It had an interesting premise and was shot a bit like a documentary while events were unfolding. However, if you have motion sickness, I recommend some other movie. I stuck it out for about an hour, getting more nauseous with every jumpy handheld shot, until the main character started puking. I was lucky to make it to the restroom to do the same. Yuck. I spent the rest of the movie holding a bottle of cold water to my head. (Dear AMC, I'm sure the low water pressure in your drinking fountains is a ploy to make people spend more money. No love, me.) One of the girls at the guest help desk came over to check on me and offer to let me sit in on another movie while I was waiting on the boys and I got to watch 20-30 mins. of "Ponyo." I'm really, really looking forward to my back-to-school treat next week now -- it looks amazing on the big screen.

Art: I really need to be finishing up commissions and getting ready for FenCon & Necro. Instead, I have a ridiculous amount of scout art that has to be done NOW so they can have it to the printers this week. Be prepared, my eye.

Writing: Doing surprisingly well, in spite of things being so busy. I just wish I could make myself do more serious writing, just to stretch myself a bit. I wish I had the guts to do as sabledrake has done and gone after her dream of being a writer. It's a very hard thing, creating something and putting it out there. You hang in there, Christine. You can do it.
