It's turning into a very blustery day here that's only going to get more exciting as it goes on. Dallas is lucky that Ike has turned more easterly so we're in for heavy rain and high winds later this afternoon. The worse that we can expect is any tornadoes that decide to pop up. News reports out of Houston say that the power is out throughout the metroplex (except for downtown and medical facilities). I'll be waiting anxiously to hear from
little_teacup and other friends down in the Houston area.
I'm busying myself with making marinade for saurbraten (German pot roast, marinated in a brine for 2-3 days then slow-cooked). It's strange but the boys really like it and wolf it down with potatoes and fried cabbage. Bill's grandmother used to make it and he said if you smelled it cooking, you knew it was fall.
