Painting Parasols

Jun 23, 2008 16:07

When I was at Hobby Lobby today, I picked up a couple of Asian style parasols on the markdown aisle. The handle and frame is bamboo and it's covered in rice or tissue paper with a sealant. I'm seriously thinking of painting them but not quite sure how to proceed. One of them has a tiny hole so it's the experimental one. I'm thinking that I could use acrylic paint if the sealant proves to be water-resistant but it might be possible to use watercolor or colored inks. I could attempt Prismacolor pencils but the paper is very thin. I'll have to really plan this carefully.

My baby called home!! Paul just called from Philmont to let me know that they made it down to base camp. He says that they got hailed on this morning but that he's had a really great time. They'll get their gear checked in and their exit physicals done this afternoon and early tomorrow morning they'll be on the bus home.

Gosh, I've got stuff to do. I've got chicken to marinate and okra to pick.
