Spiced Rum Nuts

Note to self: No matter how yummy it smells or how quickly the syrup is setting up on the spoon, it's still HOT -- you will burn your lip!!

Spiced Rum Nuts
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar (dark or light)
1 cup rum (dark or light)

Spice with your choice: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, candied ginger, etc.

Bring to a boil on medium heat and cook for 15-25 mins or until 275F (firm ball) The rum will cook out but the fumes are intoxicating! When it reaches firm ball stage, take it off the fire and add 2 cups of walnuts or whatever nuts you like best.

Quickly turn out mixture on a buttered cookie sheet and let cool. Break into pieces and serve.

Ironically, my tee-totalling Southern Baptist relatives eat these things hand over fist. *L* I've never had the heart to tell them what's in it!
