Stolen from Marie...

1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?

Used food in sex, no not THERE!

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Did I make some? I usually don't, I don't take promises lightly.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

ME!

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Nope not this year, luckily. I did know the young man from Lincoln Park who died in Iraq, vaguely, I think we had a class together. Although I am sad for the loss, unfortunately I didn't know him well.

5. What countries did you visit?

The Vatican...uh, online.

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?

Money! A car! A 2 bedroom home! (I'm tired of not being about to get some in my own room because it wakes up the baby who's 2 feet away in her crib.

7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

March 21, 1:53pm--the day and time the love of my life Natalie Sharon Matevia was born. Unless I eventually have more kids, then I will be lucky to have even more love to give and receive.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Even though I did get the epidural, during the 7 hours before that I not once cried, screamed or even whimpered, even though I thought my tail bone & pelvis were going to explode. I laughed at the Dr when he offered me demerol; I guess a lot of people freak really hard..I'm tougher than people think. I managed to stay in a good mood, I was even cracking jokes while I was pushing! I also managed to breast feed exclusively for 5 & a half months despite being told by many that I wouldn't last five minutes. PERSEVERANCE!!!!!

9. What was your biggest failure?

The fact that I still have so much weight to lose after giving birth. Then again, I'm sure mothers will agree with me...I was pregnant FOREVER! Maybe I need to be nicer about my weight.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I developed migraines during my last trimester, due to dehydration. I didn't really believe that I needed to drink at LEAST 2 liters of water per day. My vision would get freaky, my left arm would go numb, I couldn't get sentences to come out right..etc..Then when the resident tried to give me Maalox, I warned her that mint makes me hork, & she didn't believe me. Hopefully she didn't pay a lot for those shoes. Brian snorted a noodle he laughed so hard.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My wedding dress.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Brian's. He came from a family where love is measured by how expensive the gifts are, & from parents (albeit adoptive parents, but they got him at 2 weeks old!) who regularly tell him they hate him. His upbringing was filled with violence (like the time him mom tried to suffocate him with his pillow), hatred, vindictiveness, loneliness, & indifference. After a pretty bad slow start (first 3 months) he's an amazing father! He is such a kind & loving person (most of the time, no one's perfect) & far more tender and caring than he lets on.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Crazy people who put Dubya back into office, kinda makes me want to move to Canada or something; get us some health care and clean air.

14. What did you spend most of your spare cash on?

Spare????? Hmm..I spent money on so many essentials (diapers, bills, etc.) but I've been amazing about finding great deals on wedding stuff.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Lifestyle ribbed co.....rduroys

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?

"Carry on," Crosby Stills and Nash
I was singing this song (as I do a lot) to Natalie the night I went into labor, (she was still in there at the time) & to this day when she hears it she smiles & bounces around to it.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) happier or sadder?

Happier

b) thinner or fatter?

fatter :(

c) richer or poorer?

poorer, moneywise. richer, love wise

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Chanting, in the nearly two years I've been doing it (Nam Myoho Renge Kyo), it's always been effective, but I spent so many years not having a way to focus that I forget it's there.

Also I reallllly miss sleeping. In my 6th grade yearbook, I listed sleeping as my hobby.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Being defensive. I've finally found the right one, & yet I'm always waiting for the "Dear Jane letter," this is one thing that didn't go away with therapy. I AM good enough! Right?

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

With my family, the family who just wants my being there for christmas, not extra expensive trinkets wrapped in the most shiny paper.

21. What?

Not sure, I didn't hear it, either.

22. Did you fall in love in 2004?

Yep, with Natalie. When they handed her to me for the first time, I said, "You're exactly like you were in my dreams. Now I have hugs to go with the love I give to you everyday." Cheesy I know, but you get an epidural & see yourself be cheesy as you're asking the guy who gave it to you to come live at your house.

I was already in love with Brian. It was brutal love at first sight. Well, sort of, after he put on clothes that fit instead of the homey G clothes. Oh, & once Carmen tricked us into being alone together (she was tired of how we kept flirting--badly--& wanted us to just frikkin hook up!)

23. How many one-night stands?

none, I don't cheat, and anyway, I have never been a hit and run girl!

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Nanny 911, The Apprentice, & as always Law And Order:CI (Thanks to Shaggy's mom for turning me onto L & O), "Oh! He knows you're guilty! He's giving you that sideways look!"

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

No, but I greatly dislike the people who keep bringing their children into the YMCA sick & getting Natalie sick. The Dr's and lawyers from Farmington Hills can better afford missing work than I can.

26. What was the best book you read?

Too many to really count. Thanks, CJ.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

That no, I really can't get sick of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Brian knows that if we ever have a son, his name may be Anthony Kiedis Matevia.

28. What did you want and get?

A healthy baby (cept for the flu right now)

29. What did you want and not get?

Rich. A given.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?

Didn't see any new ones this year that really impressed me, but I did really like Secretary. Unless Gothika and Secret Window came out this year, then Secret Window wins cuz it has beautiful Johnny Depp.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I Ate steak, but the rest of the day sucked..HARD. I was 27.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

To have more money and not have to be on foodstamps.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?

Hmm...this is a shirt? I don't wear those! It's so much harder to get out the boobs!

34. What kept you sane?

Knowing that I'm NOT THE ONLY ONE with hardships.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Fancy like a froot luip? Nobody. Fancy like a normal person, James Spader, Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee (It's the tattoos! Really!)

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

The fact that people seem to think that being republican means that you are automatically "into morals" whereas democrats are automatically not! How utterly stupidly LAME!!!!!

37. Who did you miss?

My niece & nephew. Their mom is looney & won't let us see them. Haven't seen them since the end of July.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Stacy Lee at the Y. She & I are so similar, she's tall blond & skinny, & I'm short fat & brunette, but personality wise we are kindred spirits! I think she just quit though, better dig out her e-mail. We're both getting married next spring & we're using the same flowers, rings, type of venues, & bridesmaid dresses without discussing it ahead of time. Hooray for us Feb 4th birthdays!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:

Poop is disgusting, some more than others, but it's always going to come back, so just deal with it & move on.
