Yay! After one season of not going at all, after getting a brand new snowboard for my birthday and full on gear in April of '06, I finally went snowboarding last night! yes, last night. It was freezing cold, ok to some of you this may be "normal" cold, but it was cold for me. At the base of the ski resort, it said 27 degrees, but I'm pretty sure at the top and along with the wind chill, it was waaaay colder than that.
So how did I do? Well I was rather disapointed. I thinnk I was just so anxious and I had higher expectations thinking I would do better, but I didn't. I was able to move around but I just need to learn how to carve. I am just straining my knees too much. The whole time down the mountain I am just breaking and well, I took several breaks going down the slope. I only did 3 runs because I couldn't bear it any longer. Pat got a good 6 runs, but he said he wanted to go more, but felt bad for the other two people we went with and wanted to wait for them too. After my 3rd run I decided to just stay inside the lounge/snack bar area to just rest and stay warm.
Today I am sore and a little bruised on my left knee because on the first run I fell on my knees. I mastered getting off the lift without falling! yay me! The snow was horrible. At the very top it was windy so the snow was just blowing around that I couldn't see at one point. And there was this certain part of the mountain where it wasn't even snow, it was just ice! Packed ice. It would have been very painful to fall on that, so I just quickly passed that area up and prayed that I wouldn't fall.
I had fun and I want to go again and really practice carving. Night boarding is not for me. I get too cold. The only good thing about going during the night is that it's not as crowded. I hope we get to go at least one more time this season. That's my mini goal.
Today we didn't do anything except we decided to "save money" by washing our own cars. Bad idea, well to me at least. Paying for a car wash with coupon is about 10 bucks. (I think its 8.95 and if you give a tip, so about 10). Going there and getting it done takes about 15-30 minutes. Waaay worth it. We washed it ourselves and between pat and I, I think we spent a good 3 hours washing our cars! ha ha. We didn't start until 3 or 4 and we ran way into the evening. it started to get a cold breeze and well, it wasn't fun anymore. so next time for me I'm just going to definitely pay to get it washed!
oh and I pre-ordered my t
okidoki x hello kitty necklace from japan la today! its the only thing I want from the collection. I hope its not insanely huge and not this horrible, cheap material. Shoot for that price, it better be worth it and not break the first time I wear it!
