Kyle and Skylar had a late night last night. The rain delayed their trick-or-treat goodie-getting for about an hour. This delay, however, did not stop Kyle from pouncing around the house like he *was* spider man in his new muscle-bound costume. Skylar, also, was beaming with joy as we zipped her into her Jack-o-Lantern costume (which had green sock-like tights for leggings with the footies attatched, so she looked like she had little green stems - too cute!) We went over to Tavi and Patrick's house to meet up with them to go trick-or-treat at the mall and get something to eat along the way. They had gotten Kyle a cool Spiderman bucket that has a "quick release" bottom for easy candy dumping - very useful this evening.
We left out for the mall with Tavi and Patrick, but soon after we got there, we found that the stores were out of candy, so we headed to eat at Jason's deli. By the time we finished dinner, the rain had stopped, and we all got the kids ready and set out into the fresh neighborhood at about 8 ish. It was a late start, but the houses were still full of candy because all the kids had gone to the Mall to trick or treat instead, so ...
Kyle made out like a bandit. His strategy was undeniably cute - he'd come to the door, knock, and then after about 2.5 seconds, ring the doorbell. When the person would answer the door, he yelled, "Happy Halloween! Trick or Treat!", and they immediately said - "Oh! Spiderman! How cute!" and gave him some candy in his bucket. They would then notice that our little jack-o-lantern was behind Kyle in her stroller with her bucket *eating candy* and would let Kyle get her some candy from the bucket - mistake! Kyle grabbed at LEAST 1 handful and put most of it in his bucket and gave Skylar about 2 pieces. He sometimes made it back for a second handful before I made him stop, and the people at the door would laugh and say that it was the cutest thing to see him do that. EVERY house... he did this. He's a pro.
Skylar ate a bit of her candy as we went, (so did Kyle) but they managed to come out of it with a full roaster pan of candy! (pretty much the bottom or the stroller's storage compartment). Seth and I promised the kids that we would inspect and sort the candy today after we all get home, which didn't go over very well with our new 2 year old candy lover - who cried like we shot her when we took the pan of candy away. But she got over it, and we sent them to bed at about 10:45 last night. *yawn* I am SO tired, but the kids had an excellent time!
I'm sure the first thing that I will hear when I get home this evening is, " Can I have a piece of candy, Mom?" - I hope that daddy doesn't eat it all first! :)
Happy Halloween!
