The ignorant wealthy
This was on my facebook news feed today :
"I think it is so rude for US Airways to expect me to work. I think they should continue to pay my insurance. Give me free flights and just let me keep bopping around. Now I know how people on welfare feel......"
Normally I would respond to something so offensive but because of who it is I am trying to refrain. But I needed to get out my anger somewhere. Since she, nor anyone in her family reads my livejournal I will get it out here.
It really ticks me off that she said this, being as she is extremely wealthy and knows hardly anything about the government's programs. I like that her little bit of experience not working and getting free stuff makes her think that that is what it is like to be on welfare and that all people that use those programs are lazy. THEY AREN'T! Granted, many are. But I for one, am not. My husband for another is not. To make such awful assumptions is cruel. Do some research lady. Realize there are people that YOU KNOW that are on such programs not by choice, not by laziness, but because some idiot girl decided to get some guy fired and he's been out of a good job for 22 months but has applied to at least 150 jobs in that time. BAH! Why are the wealthy so ridiculously rude sometimes? Its so stupid. Its fine if she has money and a good job that pays her to do nothing sometimes but does she have to make comments like this for all the world to see? I feel bad but sometimes I wish people like this lost their good jobs and their insurance and didn't have ANYTHING, even family to help and then maybe she'd realize how offensive this comment is.
Now that I got that out...I feel bad. Since I'm not supposed to be offended by others. But its hard sometimes ya know? It is. Especially people I thought I looked up to. HA.
