Online from the school library computer, it's so much faster than home but I want my tea and cookies. Oh well. DONE WITH FINALS for this semester!!! Early enough that I have an extra half-hour before I need to leave for work. Soon I'll be out at the mall, smile-ing until my face hurts and being helpful to desperate shoppers, friendly to sticky-fingered children, and tolerant of the guys thumbing through the girly calendars; nimble fingers flying on the cash register. The sounds in the middle of the mall ..out at the calendar stand where I'm working .. are deafening. Christmas music from overhead, another version of christmas music from the coffee shop in front of me, shouts and screams from the children's play area by the food court, the buzz of passing conversation echoing through the concrete rafters, all leave me guessing what the customer in front of me is trying to say. "Green Bay? the Packers calendars are .. oh, the Band? Green DAY? Sorry, over here...."
Wish me survivor's luck, any who chance to read this. This too shall pass, and then the half-price sale crowd arrives. Yet this madness provides the mana that keeps the bookstore alive another year.
Time to head out now.....
