The Big Dog called me this morning around 8:30 or so, and after a bit of dithering came right to it - Would *I* drive up to his house to do more work?
Well. It's snowing (at the time) and schools are closing and road crews are prepared to shut down the major roads leading in/out/around Huntsville, but luckily for the Big Dog, the road leading up to Taft, Tennessee is small and has few bridges and no elevated portions, so I dressed and went up there. It was snowing more in Huntsville than in Tennessee, although I don't know if that's still true. We have about 1/2" on the ground, I'd say, maybe a little closer to 1", but there was hardly anything on the ground up there.
Bob's house is up on top of a lovely hill up there, with a great view, and it was pretty cold up there, but not terribly snowy. We worked for about three hours or so, then I came home and baked chocolate chip cookies so we'd have snackies for The Game tonight: Alabama will whip the snot out of Texas for the national championship.
So an odd day: the snow, the drive to Tenn., the Big Dog himself is a piece of work, and the game tonight, which we've all been waiting for since we whipped the snot out of Florida for the SEC championship. I hope tomorrow will be a day of massive celebration and a high that lasts until August, because I *hate* the long dry season with no college football.
Oh, and tonight the lows are the lowest in a decade. We've had temps below freezing for about two weeks now, I think - the warmest I've seen it in those two weeks was right around 32. The snow isn't going to melt, for sure.
