Natsu Bate or the Summer Blahs

I can't believe it has been four weeks since I last posted anything.  Joining Facebook might have had something to do with it, but only to a small part.

I'm going to blame a lot of this on my trip to Canada.  I had been doing a lot of blogging from my iPhone but there was no way I was going to turn on the internet function on my iPhone while overseas.  I'm pretty proud of myself for my will power there.  I used my parents' computer whenever I wanted, but I was definitely out of the flow I had been in.  Getting back to Japan was great (and sad because I had a great visit at home) but it has been hard to get into the swing of things again.

The house was like a disaster area when I got back.  All my stuff seemed to crash land, my husband had been on a business trip half the time I was gone and he got back the same day I did.  His stuff did a similar crash landing.

The exhibition I took part in the day I got back was great.  I think we had 360 people attend other than photographers.  Nice.  It was a great time.  It seemed like people liked my work.  My model hadn't seen the photo until the day of the exhibition and she was really happy with the piece.  I should make a nice print for her.

I have a hard time with clutter which is ironic since I also have a hard time putting stuff away.  I saw the whole crash landing thing as a chance to reorganize my house and get rid of some clutter.  Actually, almost 2 weeks later, I'd have to say mission accomplished.

Except for my tiny atelier.  It is in a lot better shape than when I got back home, but I have so many little things that I don't know what to do with.  Perhaps that's part of the problem.  I have an idea that someday, these little pieces of paper odds of thread, or what have-you will be useful.

Then there is the summer heat.  It's getting hot and humid and I'm getting what they call natsu bate(夏バテ).  I guess it's best described as the summer blahs, feeling icky, tired and a bit nauseous from the heat and humidity.  I'm really missing the longer summer days and the dryer summer heat of Calgary.

I guess this is a really whiney post.  But it's a post and hopefully it's a start down a less whiney path.

Cheers.
