A New Way to Keep Track of Wasting Time

Apr 18, 2009 01:08

As usual the internet single handedly suceeds in one thing.

Wasting my time.

Well, that isn't it, exactly. But you know how it is. One web site leads to a fourm, that leads to something else interesting and you spend the rest of your night on the internet.

While on the forum for Atlus games I noticed something in this guy's sig that was called "My Backloggery". It appeared to be a web site that tracks games you haven't beaten yet. That's just what I was looking for last year when I finally gave up. I decided such a thing didn't exist. Ok, that isn't it. I KNEW they had to exist but I couldn't find a damn one! Search engines are great, but sometimes you just can't figure out how to tell it what you REALLY want.

So I checked it out and sure enough, it was just what I was looking for. I figured if I could track my game progress I could feel more accomplished and I *might* be able to find more time to play. *haha* But at the very least I could have a record of games I had finished, even if only for my own use.

So now, with great pride I present 5 hours worth of my time (in typing, thinking, and organizing my games). My Backloggery:

(if I did it right you should be able to click the update for my actual page. I always have trouble with links!)

I have chosen a slightly different approach than most of the others on this site. Instead of listing all umpteen million games I have and don't have that I ever want to play as "unfinished" I have only listed the ones I have actually started on as Unfinished. Anything in my collection I haven't started yet or never finished but played so long ago I would have to start over I have have listed as "null".

My whole goal is to focus on what I am playing and trying to beat currently. I'd feel awefully demoralized if I listed every game I owned that I haven't beaten yet (and a lot of people do). One guy had over 800 games listed as unbeaten! My god, how can you set a goal for something like that!!? How can you even track all that!

Nope, that's not the way I'm going to do it. I hope to keep it simple.

If anyone else is on Backloggery or if you end up joining let me know so I can add you as a friend!
