Catch Up Time
Alas, I often fail at keeping up with my journal. At least for a while I was keeping up with Facebook but I haven't been able to do that for over a month either. Well, time to catch up I guess. Here's what has been going on.
This weekend Laban and I did what we could to help out at North East Wars. I didn't do any vending but I did spend all my time behind a table. I helped out with the registration table on Saturday from 7 AM to 4 PM. Laban ran a game Friday night and Saturday night. Although no one showed up for Saturday night he did have one guy stop by the table and ask about how the game was played. We brought some stuff to be used in the video game area, next year I hope to be more involved with that.
Last weekend was the Matsuri. I had actually planned to make a post completely dedicated to that but I obviously failed. It went over really well for our Baku table. We took in 8 pre-reg and gave out a bunch of trading cards I donated as well as around 50 to 70 flyers. We ran 4 video game stations and had a manga area in addition to the pre-reg table. The Bleach figures that Todd donated last year (which should have been given away be we didn't get around to it) made great eye candy for the table. Luane made a great new display board with a Halloween graveyard theme.
I have some pictures of the event which I hope to post on Facebook at some point. The whole family dressed up in Japanese attire. It was a lot of fun to dress up. Some day I would like to cosplay as well, but for now I think I am going to collect a few kimonos since they are less hassle. We didn't take too much time to walk around but Laban and I took Allura around to all the exhibits and she got the chance to do a fish rubbing (with a rubber fish) and I had a chance to say hello to my Japanese teacher from that class I took a couple of years ago.
This brings me back further into March which became a blur of selling on ebay and buying and sorting merchandise for Boston and my other upcoming conventions. I still need to do my taxes and for some reason I have fallen way behind on my house work and various other current tasks. There just never seems to be enough time.
I currently wait somewhat patiently for the newest chapter of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga. The new anime was released today in Japan and although I am looking forward to seeing it I am still a little put off by the voice changes and decided not to get to excited about seeing it. I have however been keeping tabs on the new merchandise coming out and have ordered pretty much everything I can find for the shop and of course I plan to confiscate some for my own personal use. :)
